So I decided to swap out the stock tubes on my DAC today for NOS tubes.

Who knew it took so many items to do. LOL

What's that light on the C-stand?

The rolling stand is a Matthews (the only brand stand I will buy - stupid expensive like around $500 each but amazing) and the light is a 200x Amaran. I actually ended up switching out the soft box seen in the pic for a Profoto umbrella as I needed more light.

As you know there is a HUGE difference in the quality of light from umbrella's and I have found the $20 ones are junk and just got this one on sale for $100 and it is a much nicer light.

I've also built my own diffusers (5' x 5') using PVC and they work quite well. It takes some experimenting to get a softer light on the silver components while still having enough light to offset the window behind the rack. I find shooting ProRes Raw HQ video sucks up a lot more light than shooting stills.

Nothing like on-the-spot product photography when changing out tubes. LOL

I know, right? I literally spent way more time getting the gear, setting it up, and putting it away they I did actually changing the tubes! LOL

So I needed an additional large light diffusor for the next video I am shooting tomorrow.

It will go between my large video light and the items being videoed and softens the light for a better video image. Typically the bigger they are, the more effective they become.

But they are quite expensive.

Here is a pic of a "professional" one (the smaller one with the metal frame on the left) and it cost $250. Then there is the larger one I made on the right with PVC piping and a 100% cotton sheet that have a very low thread count (the lower the better) for a cost of $40.

Going to try them both out tomorrow!

Are people really that interested in watching someone change two tubes out of a piece of gear?

One of my most viewed videos, is me opening a record. So, I can only imagine.
