Alexia

Mike, just google Best Point and Shoot Cameras 2013, and add your target price, like $100-300 for example.

Canon's good, Panasonic too, Nikon, Fuji, Olympus, Minolta, ...

Nowadays you get amazing pocket cameras (16+ Megapixels, and 20X Optical Zoom) for only $100 or so!
And they'll do 1080p videos too. ...Wide angle lens, etc.

I quickly read thru JA's Stereophile review of the Alexia in the Dec 13 issue. I will go back through it in detail tomorrow since there is too much football then hockey on today.

To summarize it would be his speaker of choice if he were to retire today.

Jim - wow! I look forward to reading the review.

Thanks Bob! Jock so graciously said he had a little point and shoot he would send me. Two thumbs up!

Before this turns into a camera thread something about the speakers: congratulations Mike! I think you've bought yourself a pair of real speakers!
How do they sonically compare to the W/P series? I can imagine the sound is lot faster and directer than the Raihdo's you used to have (that was Ribbons or AMT's right?). Could this be why the Accuphase E-560 fits so well, smoothening up just a bit?
Is the color similar as your avatar?

Thank you for you kind words. I was never a huge fan of the earlier Wilson speakers like the WP series (sorry Debbie) - but when I heard the Alexia's at LMC in Phoenix in March, I immediately called Joe. The sound was so emotionally involving. I listened to other speakers that weekend, but kept going back into that room. It was magical. At that time, there wasn't any reviews or anyone talking about them. They were so new. But I knew they were special. I had to explore them further

They sound big and full and musical. The midrange is tube like in its presentation. The Accuphase is excellent - but it's only a loaner.

If you look through earlier parts of this thread, you will see some pics. The color I went with is Macadamia Brown. Its gorgeous.

Wow that sounds really promising. It happens only a few times in our audiophiles life that you have that type of emotional experiences. I am sure you are in heaven!
As for the color I 'll have to agree with the others: the quality was not revealing a lot...;)
Enjoy your new babies.

Might be mine too.

I heard the Alexia's today again what a great speaker. I did get infomation on the Mezzo. First the Mezzo might be the closest center but it's make up is not Alexia. The woofers are different and the tweeter is different. The tweeter on the Mezzo is metal. On the Alexia it is soft dome. If you are after dialogue you may want the metal tweeter. You could tell the metal tweeter was brighter than soft dome. When I first listened to them, the speakers were 6-7' apart and sounded like you could get away without a center. I'm currently working on a new room 14x24 so we moved the speakers out about 1.5' total more a truer fit for the new room and the center shone through. It does make a big difference. I also had the opportunity to demo them w/ Mac SS and ARC tubes. The tubes smoothed things out a lot and I expect all you 2 ch guys will go this way it sound very very good, mind you the amps were pushing 750w per mono block. I'm still leaning to SS for the speed. I will be keeping an eye for reports on other set ups. They had Dag's there but didn't have the right cable? I would have liked to hear them even if they are out of the budget on this round. I want thank Dave at Pargon for his time very knowlegable guy.Definetly has his finger on what is going on in the industry.

My understanding is that Wilson is coming out with a Mezzo to match the Alexia tweeter. Stay tuned.

Fantastic. I would like something completely designed for the Alexia. But I would also like to win a lottery. I will take what I get.

Anatta - I am getting 100db peeks just prior to entering red line.

Thanks! Is this at the listening position?
Do you reach these SPLs when listening to music?

Since 0/100% on the Accuphase is 30W@8Ohm/60W@4Ohm/120W@2Ohm, depending on how loud you listen you can determine how much power you would also need.

It means the D'Agostino monos with 300W would give you around 110dB.:)
