Accuphase A-70

unsound...the suggestion of starting out by choosing your speaker first in my (and many others') opinion is the best way to build a system. The component that will have the largest determinant of the overall sound character you perceive is I believe the speaker, so you need to choose a speaker whos base sound characteristics are ones that you are drawn to. You shouldalso make sure that it is a speaker that will mate well with your listening room. Speaker-room coupling/atching is huge. Once you have fgured that out yo ca nwork your way back by finding the right amp/ntegrated amp to drive it synegistically and you can tailor the sound at that point with choice of wiring, judicious room tratments (if you have that felxibility), and so on.

This advice from Cyril and Ralph is very good advice, the speaker will have the most dominant sound in your system, it will define it.

the situation is....i got everything double or tripple but only 1 poweramp.
guess what, the amp stopped working.
my hifi budget is down to zero, so if i dont sell, i cant buy.

the plan is.....making the shortlist small based on others opinion. then buy the one on the list i get the best deal about. yes, unheard. i dont worry because anything from the list will sound more than good.
once i have sold all the gear i dont need nomore, i will go for a new speaker.
then i can compare another amp with the one i will buy now.

The A70 is a little beefier bottom in but the actual sound is very close to the A200's. I had the A65 also. I have had a bunch of Accuphase and solution gear in my shop with a wide variety of speakers. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have questions about either brand. Sorry if I came off as a little harsh with you early I was just having a man period

david, no, i didnt find you harsh. you had a concern and elucidated it. thats the right way....lets forget it.

i wish i was in your shop and could compare a70, 711 and xa160.8....wow, almost everything from the shortlist in one place.

That's why I invest the money back in the demo gear. I love sharing and allowing people to listen and compare. I did just discover that I do not like the 725 with the A70. It takes away from that class A midrange magic.

U-sound, David is the finest 2 channel audio dealer I have ever dealt with for the reasons stated above. He is always seeking out the best gear on the planet no matter a person's budget and has ample demo equipment to enable audiophiles to put together their ideal system. When you get ready to make a purchase, I would encourage you to give him a shot at your business.

yes, based on the information i have, david is the place to go.
all the great gear in ONE place, thats unique, and at the same time the most safe way to get what you really like. actually, you are lost otherwise.
i would really love to go there,....not possible, i live close to zürich in europe. the situation here is that you can find all brands......withhin a few minutes you get from one shop to the other......but no shop has a lot of brands and no shop...really not even one has a good listening room.

david, very interesting about the non-synergy 725 / a-70......wich preamp did you use before?

Loving me some Accuphase. A200''s with 2820 pre. Awesome with D5's. I have the A70 and it's much improved over the A65.

I have had that setup on Amati Futura's and was really good. I think it is a different sounding speaker than the Strads but I bet it would still sound very good

Any thoughts on A70 vs A65 and A60? I wonder if the increased damping factor offers a faster, delineated bottom end...
