hi everybody

any thoughts / experience with the a-70 ?
i wonder how better the bass perfomance is over the a-65
 
yes, what a pitty most of the population has to live in such a mess.
i feel guilty that my problem is to find out other peoples impression about a small difference between poweramps.
 
I'd love to hear the Accuphase A-70. I think we may have a few members listening to one. Hopefully we will get some feedback soon. Check out this site. Scroll towards the bottom. I think you'll see the A-70 did well.

I heard the A-70 yesterday at Design Audio Video paired with a C-2820 preamp. On the Raidho D-5 speakers, it sounded spectacular, even fresh out of the crate without any warmup.

dfw-m-g.....nice to hear you like it. i was discussing with a german man who owns one and loves it too....actually he is that happy.
then again, he runs it at a piega as i would, but he has a smaller model and 8x times smaller room.....so not sure if power would be sufficent in my case.
however, how was the basspower and control with the d5?
and, since i know you have heard the soulution711, how would you compare a-70 and 711.....as far as its possible.
 
Bass had plenty of slam and control was not an issue with the D-5. Personally I preferred the sonics of the A-70 on the D-5. The 711 is a bit more laid back and has a little smoother treble range if you like that. The A-70 was very detailed and rich sounding. Both are great electronics. Depends on speakers they are paired with I suppose.

wow, you like the a70 as much or even more.
somehow that surprises me, because you wrote earlier on in another tread that you did like the 711 more than the a200.
so...the a70 beats the a200??
 
Like I said....it all depends on the speakers you're driving. During that particular audition, I believe we were listening to Focal speakers, not Raidho D-5's.
 
that surprises me even more......because...as per the raidho-discussion they are hard to control and the soulution were the best to do that.
 
Hey guys let me clarify a few things about this topic. The A70 is a significantly improved amplifier over the A65. The A70 is very close to the A200's. Soulution and Accuphase are both known for having tremendous bass control. Both work very well with Raidho. The A70 has no problem driving the big D5. It it also matters what you perceive as control in the bass department. If you are thinking that control with Raidho is leaning out the bass then neither brand does that. What both brands do however is keep the bass tight, defined and not lose or wandering all over the place. Please keep in mind that the a 70 is a brand-new amplifier. I think I am the first one in the country to receive one. It had zero time on the amp when we started listening. However it did get much better sounding after about four hours of warm-up. I also just put in a new Soulution 725 preamp which had about 24 hours on it. So both systems will be different in a few weeks. This hobby is very subjective and opinionated. You made it sound as if you didn't believe what Peter was saying. Keep in mind this was strictly his opinion and observation of what he heard in my room. Friendly debates are common on this forum and I think can be very productive and a learning Avenue. But unless you have heard the exact two setup that Peter listened to in my shop you really have no way of knowing or debating his opinion. If you can find the same set up of gear with the same speakers at a shop then by all means go give it a listen and I would love to hear your opinion on what you think of the two brands. I'm sorry if I sound like I'm coming down hard on you but this is just a big frustration for me when people comment on gear that they've never heard before and act as if they're surprised by hearing someone's opinion that they may not agree with based on someone else's opinion. Please just take Peter's opinion for what it is, his opinion. Then go and listen to the same set up and come back and share your thoughts. In other words, back up why this all surprises you. My apologies if I am being a little harsh.

is surprise automaticly coupled with unbelief ?
if so, sorry, i used the wrong term.
 
A mistake in my opinion. You should purchase a speaker you like and then match electronics to it, versus the other way around. Just my experience.
