I love Abbey Road. it is my #1 favorite album, and side 2 is my favorite record side by a wide margin.

I graduated from High School in 1969, so this album is in my personal wheelhouse. my 50th High School re-union was last Saturday night.

my copy of the remastered vinyl arrives next week sometime.

however; on Saturday I will play my grey market 15ips 1/4" RTR Abbey Road master dub (it's very good but of unknown provenance), and my first pressing of Abbey Road. for years I could remember all the little tells for the label and jacket of the early pressings, but I've forgot all that stuff. OTOH listening to that pressing is a revelation.

it will be fun to see where the re-mastering mix goes.....compared to my first pressing.....and tape.

We’re ready!

We received our four copies and have played each a number of times. The QRP pressing is dead quiet, but a little soft on top. The snare drum doesn’t have much sizzle or sparkle. The UK pressing sounds the best, but is noisy (we have requested a replacement). The picture disc? It’s ok. The Blu-Ray (24/192) files are actually “just right”, dead quiet and contain the sparkle of the UK pressing. All in all, this remix is superbly done. I really like it. Vocals are centered, bass is dynamic and impactful. It’s definitely a must have for any collection. Ironically, which version you buy may ultimately be system dependent.

in anticipation of adding an analog source, LP is on order... in the meantime, available on qobuz: 24/96 -- streaming and download.

one note: as with other, prior digital versions, the track i want you (she's so heavy) abruptly cuts out at the end whereas on the 1969 LP i had that song very gradually faded out... very annoying!!

curious, how does this song end on the new LP?

Qobuz in the US only currently has it available in CD quality. They have a banner showing it as available in Hi-Res, but when you click on it you get a 404 page. Maybe still working out licensing issues...

What a gorgeous set up Suncoast King! Hopefully we can Come Together through the front door instead of the Bathroom Window to that fantastic Octupuses Garden of audio. Those Magico’s look imposing, and I Want them (they look So Heavy) but you say I Can Carry That Weight.
Oh! Darling, Mean Mr. Mike Mustard can’t say we never Give You our Money. I wonder how much Mike’s Silver Hammer with furutech connectors would set me back?
Well, there goes the sun.
The End.

Disclaimer: The Beatles have never given me a discount.........:weird:
