I have a huge vinyl collection and most of it comes from two sources. About five years ago, I put up a flyer in a neighborhood gourmet market..."Vinyl Lps wanted". I got a call from a guy who wanted his vinyl out of his house. It was mostly jazz, and many collectible lps, all in pristine shape. He was aware of what he had, as his collection came from a great vinyl shop in Westport Ct..."Sally's Place". I had to make multiple trips with my car to bring home over 2000 records. A few weeks later, I got another call from a friend of his who wanted to get rid of his equally great collection. I have given away at least 1500 of the records. I'm sure someone had a few great days at the local Goodwill.

What a great find! I shop at Sally's place, what a sweet shop and owner too. Wish I'd been at the goodwill when you were dropping off! I have never had good luck there, the good albums have always been in poor shape. One of my audio regrets is trading in jazz LPs for CDs in the mid 80s (Blue note, etc.) Sigh...

Sally's is a special place. She helped many people put together great collections. I remember back in the day that Paul Newman shopped there for his jazz collection.

Sweet, nice tip. What treasures did you find in those collections?

Great collection of jazz, blues, folk and classic rock. The guys were great. They knew what they had and just wanted it out. They weren't interested in selling it.
