We are a crappy little egotistical unimportant species that would be of no interest to anyone who has the technology to get here.

The planet itself on the other hand could be useful to another species. Of course, selective extermination and/or repopulation would probably be necessary first.
 
Didn't they base the X Files on some of this :)

There is plenty going on that gets hidden from the masses, but this seems highly unlikely. I did not read it all but sure sounds like a science fiction book.

At any rate, pure BS. It's the other stuff the government is doing that is not BS that is far more alarming, but that's a whole other thing that doesn't belong in an audio forum.

He he he, either that or if it ever turned out to be that we were put here by an alien race, they are probably looking at us shaking their heads wondering were they went wrong.:)

The thing is, all of the conspiracy theories are coming from the USA. Here on cable it is space/alien month, like it is every October. Our programming is saturated with it. New release movies, Conspiracy Files, Ancient Aliens, Bob Lazar, IKE/Truman/JFK/Nixon/Johnston, Ronald Reagan, Morgan Freeman, even Hillary. All of our programming material is made in the U.S.A for our global digestion. So there must be something in it if the Americans are so hung up with pushing the popular culture.

It would make for a good movie, but probably has. Aliens ya got to love em as the US has made millions of the Aliens, movies, TV shows.

Apparently, there have been a few movies inspired by 'events' including Spielberg's Close Encounters but nothing that encapsulates the purported 'Eben' story. Spielberg probably started this & should do a sequel to move his story forward from the ending which depicts the exchange.
 
Reticulum is a faint constellation in the southern hemisphere, far enough south that people in the northern, mid-latitudes cannot see it. Stars in constellations are given Greek letters for the brightest stars - alpha, beta, etc. So zeta is the sixth brightest star in the constellation - visible to the naked eye, but someone would have to point it out to you. The first UFO mention was the infamous Barney and Betty Hill alien abduction in 1961, where the Hills claimed to have been abducted into a UFO from visitors from Zeta Reticuli. So this was 4 years earlier than when the exchange program mentioned in the link is supposed to have started. My theory is that Zeta, although advanced enough to have space travelers, did not have a Trip Advisor website, so it took quite a bit of time for the exchange to get going. Of course that assumes they could travel faster than the speed of light. If not, since Zeta Reticuli is 39 light years from the earth, even a message sent back to the home planet wouldn't get there until the year 2000.
