A Kid's Prayer.....

From WFUV....."In the wake of the tragedy that struck Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT on Friday, there has been one song that has resonated more clearly for me than any other - "Kid's Prayer" by Dan Bern. It's a song that Bern was inspired to write after a high school shooting in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1998. The only thing sadder than what happened last week is that nothing has been done to end this kind of violence after all these years."

What can we do Bruce? ...After all we are the ones who elect our government's officials.

We should have the power to exercise our human rights for peace. ...But it is even more complex than that.
...And all we are left with, are prayers....

I pray even more, with all that is going on on our planet ....

I feel deeply affected that we don't have what it takes to stop all the injustice, and all the killings everywhere.

We should be able to counteract all the violence in the world by starting effective wars of peace. We need to be much stronger than that, and really get our acts together.
Living in peace everywhere should be the ultimate purpose of our existence on Earth.

And real peace means a lot of good things; like sharing our resources all together, giving, respecting, one day at a time, so that in one thousand years from now it will all make good sense.
