I agree, I have been buying large lots of CDs from folks that started streaming. I am quite content with CDs.
 
For me the main reason I haven’t hooked a turntable on my stereo set is because of a lack of space in my furniture. There are 6 parts inside, 3 stored for my 2 power amplifiers and 1 preamp, one for my nuc and the nuc power supply, one for my dac and the final one for the cd player

Actually I have a nice vintage Technics SL-Q310 turntable and a NAD pp2e preamp, currently they are stored somewhere at a ceiling. Some day I hope to have more space to add it again

The second reason I prefered cd’s over vinyl is my age: I love music from the 80s and 90s: for me music from the youth is still favorite when getting older and think over then 80% from the second hand cd’s is from that period.

And the third, I also have a lack of space to store such a decent amount. For me a living room is a place to relax, and I feel less happy in a place to sit between overloaded cabinets.

For these reasons vinyl won’t be my main source.

About the article: that the sound quality from vinyl is not great I don’t agree. In my country there is a factory producing 180 grams records which are amazing. From older vintage pressings quality varies. Brands like Melodia and Deutsche Gramophone are excellent however there are a lot of examples which sound like a very dusty and unclean record, even when they look for the eye pretty fine.

Same by the way for cd’s: due to the loudness war many of them produced after 2000 sound poor.
 
Headphonesty has been posting the worst audiophile clickbait trash lately. Why don't they re-post the Ken Fritz story AGAIN while they're on a roll.
 
I have been playing records since I got my first suitcase player in elementary school. Part of it was the hunt of LP's, I loved hitting what used to be Cutout bins, various types of sales, Flea Markets etc. Of course I bought new LP's. Definitely loved getting home to play those new finds.

I'm torn whether I'd recommend LP's today for someone just starting. On one hand the expense, today would be a different hunt for sure. On the other hand everything today, is more expensive and younger people aren't going to experience hardly anything the same way most of us did.

I still have my albums. My oldest daughter says she wants them. She grow up with me having my LP's. I recently sold my turntable and not going to do analog anymore. It was not a divorce, I prefer to have kept playing albums but it's more a decision due to circumstances.

I don't consider playing LP's a money pit. In my experience once I got my table set up it was smooth sailing.
 
Many of my friends have teenagers and young adults that are into vinyl. They all have inexpensive systems and buy a lot of used vinyl. They seem to love it. I may be wrong, but I think that it is this age group that has caused vinyl to see a renaissance. A lot of these kids have discovered 60-80's rock and roll and really like it. My son included. I got him started in vinyl with a vintage 1970's fully refurbished Pioneer PL-55x Semi Auto TT, Nagaoka MP-150 cartridge and an Emotiva phono preamp. I am going to give him my Vista Audi Phono 2 preamp when I get my Gold Note.

Who do you think is buying the Orbit, Fluance, Denon and the like cheap TT's and are using built in phono preamps for simplicity.
 
I am 65, and have some of the vinyl that my Dad owned. I listened to them when I was young on his McIntosh + DIY Klipschorn corner speakers. His turntable was damaged, and the MC60 amps blew up once too many times for me to keep. My listening habits were formed then. My teenage years were turntable/FM, then 8 tracks, and cassettes dubbed from the vinyl or FM.

Got back into vinyl with my Dad's records, and new + vintage vinyl. The VPI 16.5 RCM is a must. Digital is so much easier. Time will tell if I end of with space up here in Seattle for my vinyl rig. House hunting. The daughter and grand daughter are great. Liking retirement so far. If I end up with MSB Premier DAC feeding just a headphone and amp + speakers, I will survive.

They can get a headline right once in a while, even if by accident. Doesn't mean they're not crap. They were spamming the Ken Fritz rehash everywhere on social media. ASR is bad too, in a completely different way. Thanks for following me so closely!
