5 of the best turntables in the world?

It's not even 5 of the best. Its simply, 5 turntables. Oh, and one of them has speed problems. Geez.

I hear 'ya Mike, heck, I'd take the new Technics over any of them. As for 'locked in' speed, there's none better that I know of.

Here is the deal boys and girls: Everyone of us could create a list of what we consider are the 5 best turntables in the world and NO ONE would agree with your list. First of all, no one has heard every table in the world. Let's say you claim to have heard half the tables in the world, you still are just giving your opinion about what you like and what you heard. And if you claimed to have heard half the tables in the world, how many of those listening sessions were conducted in your room with your system? Oh, just a handful?? You heard a bunch of tables at shows and that is supposed to mean something in the grand scheme of things?

We have vocal people in this hobby who don't even own a stereo system or a room to put it in who travel around the world listening to other people's systems and they post "reviews" of their short term listening sessions of a strange system in a strange room and somehow draw meaningful conclusions and try and pass on advice to other people who are looking to upgrade their systems. Their "advice" is worth about as much as someone putting together a list of the five best anything in this hobby.

I love your candor. Well written.

Bonzo....err...I mean, Bingo!

Well actually i know a guy like that, have had many discussions with him and his eval tends to be pretty spot on, with the stuff I'm familiar with , well , with but a few exceptions, ( disagree on the Linn :) ) nothing like and very different to some of the neophytes Audio reviewers we see floating around the internet today writing powder puff reviews.

BTW, evaluating TT's are froth with errors which usually require a very tedious back and forth to truly crown a king, if even possible, maybe an Audio Shark top 5, with everyone putting up their top 5 TT selection ....

Regards ...

The nonsense I'm talking about has gone on for too long and everyone on the forum in question seems to play along. Stereo system by committee and apparently when the day finally comes for setup (and it's been what, almost 7 years?), that will be done by a committee too.

Maybe the whole thing is about getting hits on the webpage to support the advertisers. example of two types

  • Pay per click is the most popular type of advertisement. Each advertiser pays differently and you are paid when visitors click on an ad.
  • Pay per impression pays according to the amount of times the ad is displayed on your website. This means that for every thousand times the ad is displayed, you get paid. Each advertiser pays differently but typically the amount will be small since all it takes is for someone to open your web pag

You talking about PTA? Because I don't even get $40 a month from our ads. LOL.

For those that remember the very early days of AS, I had started out accepting a few ads from manufacturers. But the minute a post not complimentary of their product(s) went up, my phone started ringing with demands to "delete that post".

Now I let Google manage all the ads, and accept the pennies to help off set some of the costs. [emoji56]
