Anyone running this amp? I think I finally decided to go solid state and I'm scared to death. Lol I've only ever owned tube amps and to be honest I always had problems with them. Bat vk60 had to send it back to bat 2 times and once for the guy I sold it to. Cary 120s never worked right for me. Sold it to my friend who doesn't mind soldering in new parts. And now my Jas integrated keeps blowing resistors.
So talking with both Dewey and Jeff W. they gave me glowing reviews of this very reasonably priced solid state amp. And I'm on board and will order one shortly. I love the fact that with 300w I no longer have to worry about speaker sensitivity. But I'm still scared to try new things
But I always like to hear as many opinions as possible.

Great amp with solid bass, bullet proof power and very clean highs. Make sure you go for the new SST2 version, silver model should look and sound very nice with your Hovland preamp.

Yes I will go silver and 19". And newest model. I was thinking black but I've changed my mind.
And with the glorious highs this hovland puts out through a mid fi amp now . I can't wait to hear them through a real amp.

The Bryston 20 year warranty is a touch also.
That is unbelievable! 20 years , this amps warranty might out live me.

Thanks guys

Steve... Jeff sells these. He has me thinking on one of these if I sell my MC402.

Don't be scared! I know that's easy to say, I'm that way too. that's why I told you if you were around the area you could come hear this McIntosh 352, not that I'm selling it. I'm telling you Steve I've had a few tube amps and this sounds more tubey

The 4bsst2 is a very solid performer. It nicely handled the XRT1Ks, though for my speakers I would start at the 7bsst2 and go up from there.

For your PMCs though, 4bsst2 would probably meld very nicely.

Yes Jeff I would never even thi k about doing something like this unless an analog guy I really trust recommended it. Not only that Dewey who is running those sweet 28's was still Raving about his time with the 4b
Love this forum !!! So much honest help to be found here.
So Jeff I'm thi king of some pmc speakers in the future. Me and you would have near identical systems. Lol .

My mom always told me that there are 2 things you can't hide ......

The truth and having a baby. We tell the truth here.

Thanks for the reinforcement Joe

No problem Dewey. Based on what I heard with the 4bsst2, I still lust for a pair of 28bsst2 amps. Knowing you love your amps makes me want them more.

Sweet guys thanks !! Don't worry Dewey the 4b will crush my present amp situation.
Just about anything would. I'm really excited about this and next year at this time I will be building a real listening room , might opt for a pair of the 28's once I get there.
But this 4b is the perfect amp for me right now. I got about 3-4 months to save and figure out what kind of speakers I want. Of course the fact that my jeep is falling apart before my eyes and I keep buying stereo gear instead of a new vehicle . Might take me a little longer to get to the speakers.
Anyone want a tube Integrated with a bad resistor for a steal. Lmao!!!!
