I've got to say....been listening to all the familiar tunes in the past 24 hours and my mind is simply being reshuffled seeking calibration to reality gauged by the sound of music!!! And that's exactly what it is.... MUZIK. MUSICA. Nothing more. Nothing less. I'm not the type to qualm about having to hear every tiny micro and macro detail in the song, musicality and realism is more important than specifics to me. It's like watching a beautiful scene in an Imax movie, you won't have time to capture every detail in your mind but what's important is the beauty of the frame as a whole in that moment where you go WOW!!! And that's what a McIntosh sound is. A beautiful majestic scene that travels at the speed of sound.
On Sundays I like listening to Christian hyms sung in a choir setting. I've listened to the same albums over the years utilizing various gears from Denon to Rotel, Anthem A/V, Emotiva and now the MC452. And as I listen to them right this moment as I type, for the first time I hear the sopranos, tenors and baritones seemingly floating from floor to ceiling. And I have high vaulted ceilings. With my eyes closed, I could literally feel their lips smacking and their breath evaporating. Fantastically close and surreal.
Glory glory hallelujah never sounded so glorious and majestic! Amazing grace never sounded so sweeeeeet.....He leadeth me sounds so righteous and holy holy holy never sounded so.....welllll HOLY.
Keep in mind, the Mac has only less than 24hrs of total play time and it's already outperforming my expectations. Now I'm starting to wonder if these babies are indeed under priced. Great value. American ingenuity and muscle with all the control. Oh BTW, had it on and playing for about 15 hours straight yesterday, barely warm to the touch. Very nice.
