300b's?

lmao!!!! your a bad influence too!!!!!! well the honest opinion on that is if i like these cary 300b's, im going to get the manley neoclassic 300b amps. they are the ones i always wanted,an ive heard them a couple times and loved them in both setups i heard. the preamp is cool but id have to hear it somewhere first. preamp will be a tough sale to me. cause when i look at the insides of other newer pres, i see that my hovland, however old, is built way better than others i see. big fat wires in it, all the hours of hand soldering. big beautiful music caps. even though it is for sale right now i dont think i willl come off my asking price. which means it will not sell. its a classic and if i got rid of it, i would surely miss the liquidy soaring endless highs.im going to have to really be blown away by a pre to buy it in the future.
as far a horns go. wow, i never even thought about the,.lol. i think i know a guy who is a avantguarde dealer. just cant remember his name hmmmmmm!!!!! itll come to me. lmao!!!

I almost bought the Manley 300b monos. Until Mike talked me into the Cary 211 FE which is sort of a 300b amp, well, it has a couple of them in it. :)
 
Jock - Steve has heard the Cary CAD 211 FE amps. Hopefully he will chime in.

Do we have any kind of consensus on what 300B amp sounds the best? Manley? Sophia? Something else?
 
Actually I was flipping a coin whether to get this Line Magnetic or the Manley. And then I was talking to Mike that night and since the Cary 211 FE has the same tube complement 300b into 845s as the Line Magnetic, I was sold on the Cary.

jock the 211's are without a doubt some of my favorite tube amps i ever heard. they are a little different than set or 300b's but thats because the have some serious power. its kind of a mix between a 300b and a big powerful push pull tube amp.
my dream is to have the manley 300b's and the cary 211's. i could die happy. congrats on your purchase. if you dont have them yet you will love them!!!!! might be the perfect amp for those d3's

mike that manley is gorgeous. i want a pair now too!!!!

Haven't heard them all Mike so I'm not qualified to give an opinion. BUT, from what my dealer tells me that LM219 is pretty special. As long as 24w is enough for you. That said, I would take those Sophia's any day of the week!
