24/96 vs 24/192

Hey Anthony, I always like doing the comparision of a downloaded 24/96 or 24/192 against a good hunk of vinyl, man there is a difference (better) with good mastered hunk of vinyl..

Chris, interesting that you say that. A buddy of mine who is a die-hard vinyl head brought his Lee Morgan Sidewinder 45RPM over (among other albums) this past weekend to test against my 24/192 download of the same album. Vinyl won handily. He also had Cassandra Wilson Belly of the Sun (a Japanese import I believe, since I don't think it is available here in the States) on vinyl against my 16/44 CD download. Vinyl still won, but it was a closer call in that case. I also have Bitches Brew original vinyl that is worse than any digital copy I have, which includes Redbook, SACD, and 24/192 download.

Yes, in some cases as noted. The complete set up for each source (TT, tonearm, cartridge vs. computer/USB converter/DAC) is about the same price wise with similar cabling, so the comparisons were fair enough IMO. I still believe everything is, above all else, recording and mastering dependent.

INteresting since so far I never heard a difference between 96 & 192.

Please, Could you give me the link (or site) to download booth versions so that I can test myself if I can head a difference.

HDTracks. You can also go straight to the source: Chesky Records - The Premiere Audiophile Label. With the reVisions album, the fact that Chesky recorded and mastered the music in a high-resolution digital format from the beginning might have made a (the?) difference.
