We just had a show in California and RMAF and Axpona are fast approaching and others are in the works. The Florida Audio Expo will be back in February.

Who’s planning on attending the shows this year?

I’ll probably attend one or both if the mask mandate is lifted for travel. I’m fully vaccinated, so…

I just completed two trips recently: one to New York, one to Denver and both times had to wear a mask from the minute you enter the airport on one end to the minute you exit the airport on the other and then again in the Uber. I felt quite claustrophobic and sick at the end of each day of travel. Don’t think I’ll be flying again until that’s lifted myself.

What about you?

I don't find masks to be comfortable, but I am sorta used to them now on planes. It certainly isn't going to stop me from flying. But - I'll be cheering once the mandate is lifted.

As far as shows - I haven't looked that far in advance - fall 2021. I just don't know how that he shows will fit into my work schedule.

I'll definitely be at the Flordia Audio Expo in February. Too nice of weather and too fun the last 2 times I've gone.

Never mind the masks, there are way too many crazy people flying the unfriendly skies now days. The bottom line is that flying sucked before covid hit, but now it is much worse which I didn’t even think was possible.

If the shows require people to wear masks, that will hurt attendance too.

I plan on AXPONA as it is within driving distance. I wore a mask all day for months at work so that isn’t a deterrent to me (even though I hate the them).

As Mark posted, the biggest impediment for me right now is what's going on at airports and in planes. TSA is ridiculously understaffed (and at a starting wage of $16.51/hr I'm not surprised) and passenger behavior on planes all too often is not what can be called civilized or respectful.

In addition to airports turning into fight clubs and TSA being understaffed, the airlines are also understaffed mainly due to a pilot shortage which is driving airlines to cancel flights.

I have a couple of friends who are major airline pilots. During Covid, the airlines were offering early retirement packages as people flying was way down. DOH!

On my last flight, the pilot and co-pilot looked about 18 years old. [emoji3064]

AXPONA is close enough to drive, I plan to attend if we get a group together which I believe should happen since it's been so long. It looks like details on masking etc. will be posted in the future. I sure hope it's no masks, I will respect rooms if they request a mask but I need abreak from them during the day.

Re: 2021 Trade Shows - who’s going?

The covid positivity rates are still too high (<5% to control spread) in most places (here they're >8%) in the country because of the number of people that have not had the vaccinations. I'm fully vaccinated and both the pizer and moderna vaccines are 90+ effective for those fully vaccinated. But the unvaccinated people are driving variants with each more contagious and virulent. On the Today Show Dr. Fauci was asked if these variants continue unabated, could they possibly negate the protection of the vaccines. His answer was that's the way viruses work.

For those interested in the positivity rates around the country:

Hopefully by this fall or early next year this will improve, but I wouldn't bet on it.

axpona is just a couple of towns over for me and locally shops have relaxed some since the vaccine was released so hopefully masks will be optional at the shop also. Us audiophiles are a small bunch and I believe these shows need all the support they can get, not to mention its fun. I'm in.

I have pulled the plug on 2021 Warsaw Audio Video Show. Rescheduling to November 2022.

Adam,

I am sorry to hear that. I know you work hard every year to make the show happen. But even though your decision was probably hard to make, I think your decision was wise. We may want to be done with Covid but Covid is not done with us.
