2015 TAVES ( Toronto Audio Video Entertainment Show )

You want a speaker that plays big because of your nicely sized room. Something with wide dispersion too.

So, I would first make the venture here to hear my Epicon 8's - especially when I get the NuVista to borrow. If you loved it, you could then talk to David about a package deal.

Another option is that mint Revel Salon 2's that Mark Jones took on trade, combined with my mint Bryston 28SST2 amps. I'm not sure of Mark's asking price, but that would be like getting $45,000 worth of electronics for ~$20,000.

Another option is a pair of Harbeth 40.1's and that VAC i160 integrated for sale on Audiogon from the guy in Miami Florida.

Another option is Bryston Model T's with my matching 28SST2 amps. Great combo and money left over.

Another option is Ryan R630's and a sweet amp/preamp - but you have the unknown factor.

I'll keep thinking....

That would be one Killer system either way. You will have a power and all the details.

However if you like the sweet sounds system.

I would highly recommend the DeVore O/96 with your existing amps. Money back guarantee by me :)

Oh no!!!! LMAO.

Plus, not sure the O/96's would fill/compress his big room. Also, I'm sure Chris still has good hearing! ;)

Ha, 100% sure it will fill the room. J.J's room was bigger and no problem to fill that room ( 96 db 10 ohms).By his signature I am sure Chris has good hearing don't worry about him :P !!!

Thank you Mark, what makes it difficult down here in sunny Fla, is listening to any of the speakers you mentioned. Close by I have a Revel and JBL Synthesis dealer , RBH Kef, Thiel, unless I drive to Tampa or Miami.

I would get much more efficient speakers, whatever you choose. Your Quicksilvers would be good amps for them. Aim for 93db+. There is a high efficiency speaker thread I believe somewhere that has many ideas.

Well I'll recommend my current combination - no problem in the room dimensions you list and can go in corners or not. AN E/Lexus with Line Magnetic 219IA. I actually prefer the Lexus to the Spe - but I do prefer the Spx. They need the ballsier amplifiers like the 845 or 211 in my experience OR parallel Single Ended.

Paul, Thanks for all the great pics of the show. Wondering if you heard the Airtight gear.
Looks like Angie had several rooms of gear there under different business names. Curious about the Sutherland/Bergman combo.
Mark, did you end up bringing the Thorens 124 ? didn't see any pics so far of it.
Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes, I brought both the Thorens and the Technics. I put an old Grace F9e on the Thorens for added nostalgia. Both were static only. My buddy David McCallum, brought his 401/12" Triplanar/ DV-1s. We used that with the Nagra phono-stage and the Allnic headphone amp to drive the Audeze's. The combo sounded fantastic.

Click onto my Facebook page below, there should be some photos there.

Cheers, Mark.
Had a look on FB. Beautiful tables Mark! Not sure if you've a copy but there is a great hardcover book on the history of thorens. Has quite a bit of specific info on the 124. I've a copy

What Nagra phono did you use, the vps or bps, or plp pre? You carrying Nagra now?
Chris

Thanks Chris.

It was the VPS, no not as now, maybe in the future, really nice product. The VPS was brought to my room by reviewer David MacCallum, the 401 was his table.

Well years playing in a rock band and drag racing has taken a toll with my hearing, so loud music is not my thing. Heading out Friday to listen to the F208's ( budget friendly and wifey friendly)

You will be very surprised, even shocked, at just how good those F208's sound.

Oh I'm keeping the chrome Quicksilvers. I still don't know what 096 is . The only 096 I have ever heard of relating to audio is DeVore Fidelity Orangutan 0/96 speaker or the Klein & Hummel 096 speakers
