Today i was at a friends store and saw a very nice bookshelf speaker ( Tannoy Prestige Mini Autograph ) retail = $2,000.00 no doubt about it it's a very good & nice little speaker BUT what about this one for less money ( you don't need to buy stands ) wich one is the better bang for the buck ????? you already know MY answer now i want yours, PS: Of course BOTH speakers fit in your room.

Definitely the Magnepan 1.7's get top billing in my books (I owned them) and paired with two little Sunfire subs, they were awesome for the money.

A couple of floor standers under $2,000 MSRP

But a real sleeper is the Mirage OMD-15

In the bookshelf area, I would have to say:

KEF LS50:

and of course....Sonus Faber Venere 2.0

I agree with Mike - I just heard the KEF LS 50s for the first time a few weeks ago at a local dealer. I was so impressed I bought a pair before leaving the store. Add the REL T5 sub (which they had mated perfectly with the LS 50s) for $600-700, and you have a combo that will compete against $10,000 systems. The KEF LS 50 is a flagship product which incorporates the same technology as their much praised Blade speakers. This local dealer also had the SF Venere 2.0, but everyone who heard both said the KEF was the better speaker. I owned the Maggie 3.7s and auditioned the 1.7s when they came out. Too thin and bleached sounding.

The Boxer is a 2-way stand-mounted monitor built to Nola standards throughout. It incorporates a low-mass 6½-inch bass/midrange driver with a laminated pulp cone for low coloration and high speed. The high frequency driver is a high-resolution silk dome tweeter with smooth extended response. In addition, a diffraction ring is utilized. The bass driver is loaded by a rear firing twin-flared port for low distortion and noise. Although the main priority here is the best possible mid-range quality (as in all Nola speakers), the bass response has been extended to 44 Hz in order to provide a full range sound. Rear connection is by a pair of high quality all metal gold-plated 5-way binding posts. These connectors are fixed directly to the cabinet, thereby omitting the sonically deleterious effects of plastic connection plates often used.

The all-important crossover is a shallow slope design with excellent phase characteristics. The construction employs only point-to-point hand wiring of very high quality components. Capacitors are 630-volt high purity polypropylene types and only air core inductors are used. Resistors are close tolerance 2% metal types.

Wiring is proprietary low-loss oxygen-free copper. The crossover also incorporates a shock-isolation system in order to minimize the effects of vibration for a cleaner sound. The 90dB sensitivity combined with an 8-ohm impedance makes the Boxer easy to drive. The net result is a wide range dynamic transducer that is accurate but is also truthful to the music. The sound stage is very large and "open", yet has excellent focus. The low distortion provided by the Boxer means that long listening sessions are possible without fatigue.

Dimensions: 15.5 inches H x 8 inches W x 11.5 inches D
Bass / Midrange: 6½-inch laminated low-mass cone
High Frequency: 1 inch high-resolution silk dome
Response: 44 Hz to 28 kHz
Sensitivity: 90 dB
Impedance: 8 ohms
Finish: True Piano Finish Cherry Wood or True Piano Black / Black Cloth Grill

Ayre and McIntosh. Not sure how many hours on them. Detailed but no low end. 3.7 much more extended.
