    Zellaton

In this thread I would like to discuss the speakers of one of the oldest audio companies in the world - Zellaton!
Moreover, quite recently I had a close acquaintance with the youngest LEGACY model!
    And it was fantastic!

ZELLATON Audio is almost 90 years old!
And today it is probably one of the most technologically advanced and progressive companies in the world producing speakers in the quality and price segment of Ultra High End Audio!
And that gives me the right to say that the ZELLATON LEGACY is probably the best compact speaker in the world with an elegant design!
The advantages of the LEGACY include fantastic speed and dynamics of sound, unrivaled musicality and unforgettable appearance!
    Let's listen and admire them!

    Re: Zellaton

Very nicely produced video’s TechnicalPie. I did not know ZELLATON Audio was almost 90 years old.

    That’s remarkable.

I’d read somewhere that Zellaton makes its own drivers. Is that correct?
Borresen Acoustics Loudspeakers, Borresen Model 01 Compact monitor loudspeakers with Ansuz Darkz T2s Supreme resonance control, Audio Video Manufaktur GmbH (AVM) Inspiration amplifier & streamer, Innuos Zen MKII music server, Ansuz Acoustics cables & accessories. Please visit my system thread hosted on Audioshark for more details. Disclosure: The author is materially connected to Ansuz, Aavik & Borresen Acoustics via friendship with an owner.

    Re: Zellaton

The drivers (membranes) are Zellaton’s core, that’s what got the company started.

Excellent sounding speakers. Unfortunately, only sold by a single dealer in the US. So access here is very limited.

I think your comments could be their own thread so it doesn’t look like you are addressing them towards a speaker company that has been around for a very long time.

yes they do. I heard the Zellaton under different guises (Symphonic Line). This was Winter CES eons ago and they left an indelible impression then, they were utterly transparent, fast and resolving not unlike a 'stat. It was shocking at the time that cones could pull off the hat trick.

How much do these speakers cost? How would a person go about listening to them? How would a person purchase them? How would a customer get service if required?

Sorry Mike, but this thread appears to be a free advertisement, not a discussion on their products, by a person from the company.... I personally believe that this type of thread should be in a thread for company advertisements like many other forums do... if they want to advertise their products, cool, but please don't insult us by calling it a discussion.

    Re: Zellaton

I would personally like to read about new gear no matter who presented it. TechnicalPie is based out of Moscow, says he’s a filmmaker. Zellaton is based in Germany (?). I think there’s only one importer which is too bad. Yes, they are very expensive but unfortunately, almost everything is these days. It’s up to each of us to decide what to do with the information provided but I for one am excited about the prospect of hearing them.

Randy, the big ones are way over 100K, and the reference model 260K, if I remember correctly.

So, these ones are really outrageously expensive. But they’re supposed to be good. World famous producer Rick Rubin got some for himself.

    That’s remarkable.

I’d read somewhere that Zellaton makes its own drivers. Is that correct?

Sorry, but this is not an advertisement !!!
I'm just sharing with you my impressions of listening to amazing speakers!
If you are not interested in this, then you can skip reading.
And despite the cost of Zellaton, these speakers should be listened to at least once in a lifetime!
Trust me, they are worth it!

By some accounts, today most loudspeaker manufacturers buy their drivers from third party manufacturers or modify – ever so slightly in some cases – an off the shelf driver. While there is nothing inherently wrong or bad about using commercially-available drivers, owning the intellectual property can be helpful in protecting a business by stopping others from commercially exploiting their innovation.

Unfortunately, there is no official Zellaton distributor in Russia yet.
    Hopefully this will change soon!

    I think yes!
This is one of the main reasons for the high cost of speakers.
This famous speaker, covered with a layer of the finest foil, has been made for weeks. There are also stiffening ribs!
This is a very time-consuming process, like the production of expensive Swiss watches!

    Re: Zellaton

I remember hearing some Zellaton multi-driver dipoles at a show a few years ago; expensive, but they pulled off the all too rare trick of disappearing into the room. The exhibitor was reluctant to play them very loudly, though, so no way to know if that quality persisted at higher volumes (an even rarer quality in speakers)

let me get this straight. first you were reeling about a speaker you never heard of, then personal anecdotes from others describing them as a fine speaker wasn't enough. when you discovered the price to be absurd (by your reckoning) you then wanted the thread moved to the commercial section because it smelled like an ad. Really? Im content coming on any forum to learn something new and read about underreported/underrated components as most discussion center around the same handful of well-worn and boring (to me) subjects.

First off, I was not reeling about the company I just mention that there seem to be an amazing amount of speaker companies... just an off the cuff comment, not bad intent intended. The original several posts did seem to smell like a commercial ad, others agreed with me... and yes, in my view $30,000 for two way stand mount speakers is very expensive. None of this was a negative on the company, only that if it was indeed an advertisement it should be identified as such, if not then sorry for mentioning that it appears to be. None of this should affect your reading or enjoyment of this thread. If it does then I am sorry and apologies.

So what if it comes across as a "commercial ad" (I do not view it like that)? This forum is enriched by talk about different manufacturers making state of the art equipment. Otherwise, we would be talking about the same 3-4 companies all day long. I value Technial Pie's contributions to this forum-- they talk about amazing products that we usually do not hear about in the US. If you have such a bee up your bonnet about Zellaton, just ignore the thread. Why ruin it for everyone else?!!

Dandy Randy at his finest. He wants to tell Mike how to run his forum and he doesn’t like to see expensive products being mentioned. I guess he forgot that Mike is a dealer for some very expensive products.

Enough is enough with your whining about how many speaker companies there are in the world and how expensive some speakers are. You should go rearrange the toy cars on your audio rack, take some pictures, and update your system thread. That would be better than you expressing outrage at the cost of speakers you were never in the market for.

    Mark,

Please lay off of fellow forum members. Put each other on ignore. I think Randy was more concerned that someone was trying to use the forum as advertising, not that there’s tons of manufacturers and prices.
