Re: Saw these guys last night

Their first Album was Chicago Transit Authority. Then they got sued by the Chicago Transit Authority so they shortened their name to Chicago.

Glad Chicago was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Surprised it took as long as it did. Terrific band.

Yup... that is why sometimes you see it referred to as Chicago and sometimes Chicago II. The cover just says Chicago (listening to MFSL now) but in Roon they list it as Chicago II. Roon describes why the name was shortened. Bottom line is it is a great double album .

Fantastic! I saw Chicago in Arkansas several years ago. Very enjoyable. These guys sound pretty darn good!

Love early Chicago through Terry Kath, interesting that bands make their living on covers, there’s a lot out there.

Terry Kath, the lead singer and guitar player was admired by Hendrix, whereas his thoughts on Zeppelin was that of a garage band.

Terry later shot himself dead by accident, high times of cocaine and booze.

I could be wrong, but I think you are confusing things. The first album Chicago released was Chicago Transit Authority. That title never changed. Chicago II was their second album. They are both double LPs. The only way you will find the first album on Tidal or Quobuz is to type in Chicago Transit Authority. If you just type Chicago, it only shows you albums from Chicago II forward.

Excellent. I really like the early era Chicago. They eventually turned into a elevator music band. I went to see CTA at a 10K seat arena. There were only about 3K of us who made it. They were relatively new. Blew me away. Terry Kath was an amazing guitarist and the band never recovered totally from his passing IMO. I would go see these Russians if I get the chance.
