An Afternoon with Nelson Pass

One of my favorite audiophile quotes is attributed to Mr. Pass:

Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not." — Nelson Pass

I first heard Nelson speak when we had him down to address the San Diego Audio Society in early 1977. He was great then and it appears time has only improved that.

Nelson is a true class A act , anyone here, near to SF should attend Burning amp at least once, meet the man, learn and be happy..

:)

Regards..

Awesome quote and I believe in what he says. Too bad everybody doesn't 'get it' because all of the objectivists that haunt audio forums and love nothing better than to start a big round of mental masturbation would all have to go somewhere else where they could demand to see measurements, proof, DBTs, etc., which would make all audio forums much the better after they left.

Love this quote!!!

Good thread in my area I have not seen or heard any of Nelson Pass gear. It is odd that some gear well reviewed and with good reputation never seems to make it to the dealers shop at least in Canada. I know some gear does not fair well in the US to Canadian dollar others get odd if not poor or disinterested distributors who do not push the product.

I was very interested in the Burmester 111 the distributor sent a mid level pre and power not the 111 . If you went to a car dealer to test drive a Corvette and they gave you a Camaro to drive what are the chances you would pull out your check book and buy the Corvette?

This is a odd hobby and lot is said about what is best or great but getting to hear it is a up hill fight.

I kind of feel like it sounds great just look at the picture.
