Any current Naim users here?

I am thinking about playing with a Supernait 2 (again) or going up a level.

I know Naim can get a little tweaky with all the external power supplies and such, but I miss that thicker fuller sound they are known for having.

I'd like to think I could just stop at the Supernait 2, but you know how I (we) get with wanting more. :)

Not a current user but when I had the nDac I added the xp5xs (entry level) p/s and it made for a cleaner sound. Never tried the better ones but the power supplies will improve the sound as an upgrade. Not earth shattering but a nice improvement.

Joe can you explain this, the nait 2 doesn't have an external power supply , or are you addressing adding one of their external supplies like the HiCAp or SuperCap and their setup ? thanks Joe just wondering

Yes, typically you can order a HiCap (probably preferred) or a SuperCap to improve the sound. I forget what part of the circuit they improve. There are less expensive alternatives like Teddy Pardo Naim specific power supplies.

Sure you can use the Supernait 2 by itself, but it's hard to stay stock when the HiCap adds to the musicality. Word about the SuperCap on the SN2 is it's too much of a good thing and while technically better, some don't like what the SuperCap does to the SN2.

Each preamp, amp or source benefits and sometimes requires certain power supplies. There are typically 2 or 3 different levels of power regulation available for each piece.

I came very close to ordering the SN2 with HiCap a few weeks ago, but decided to wait, do a little more research and really think about what I want.

Thanks Joe. From what I have read the SN2 is pretty good all by itself. Its a interesting piece for sure.

When you add an external power supply the external supply supplies power to the preamp section of the amp. Without the external supply the preamp is powered by the power amp supply.

The Hi-cap suplies 2 regulated sources 1 for each channel and the super cap besides being a bigger power supply, supplies many (I forget the number but like 8-10) regulated sources that then supply power to more individual parts of the preamp.

Thank you Jock!

The Statement looks really cool; I'd love to hear your thoughts on how it performs.

Hi Sean!
It is sensational right out of the box, and a significant step up from a Gryphon Antileon which has been in the system prior.
I expect much more as it settles over the coming weeks and months.
Best, GN
