Do you push the Watts in your system on songs you know well, if so, how far and who do you have playing?

Playing one of my favorite reference tracks at 70% power, sometimes at 75% and no more; Stevie Ray Vaughn’s Tin Pan Alley from Couldn’t Stand the Weather album on 64X DSD,...Oh my

How do you know how much power is coming out of your amps? Do you have a meter?

I have to guess on mine. Most of the time I'm guessing I am in the small fraction of a watt. Peaks probably in the 1-2 watts. (max for my amps are about 3-4 watts._

Thanks, Larry

Most times, less than one watt. Probably 1/10 of one watt. One time Edward had my system cranked to 5 watts with some horrific Metallica or something playing. I had to leave the room and go down stairs. I think it was around 115db that we measured at the listening chair.

Mike that's something else that has amazed me. It just takes a few watts to be very loud. But then higher wattage amps usually sound better to me. Probably because they are cleaner watts with more available headroom.

Depends on what experience one is trying to recreate. Is it Stevie as recalled heard live? I would suspect that would be pretty loud!
If it's simply whatever one prefers simply for casual enjoyment/mood, etc, that could be any level..and any amount of watts.

cheers,

AJ

I use an app on my phone that shows up in decibels. I will listen anywhere between 76-87 or so. All depends on what I'm listening to and and who's in the house.
