    Klipschorn AK7

It was MC60s, back in the ‘70s for me.

My retreat from a streamer to a basic preamp

There are many ways to achieve the preferred sound from a system. For me, the use of a nice, tubed, pre-amp fills most of my needs. Figuring out what you actually like, and getting your system to produce that, despite all the industry, and interweb, static, and be a challenge. That is. Nice...

What is a good way to transfer music to a Walkman?

There is a current Sony Walkman. Now a portable digital audio player. I had one a few years back. I never had issues with moving files to the Micro SD card via plugging in the device to any computer, PC or Mac. There is a specific Sony “OTG” cable needed though.

How to replace a 70V volume control on speaker?

I doubt it ever sees 70v, but you need to figure out what kind of potentiometer it is, total resistance, and logarithmic versus linear taper.

Wilson Audio Unveils Stunning New Flagship Speaker

I saw some pictures over on audiophile style. It does look scary. Huge, and curving forward as it gets tall. I’m sure it will sound stunning in the right room, with the right amplification, and tuned appropriately. Lots of adjustments. I’m definitely a “meh” on the looks, but it is striking...

    Is Music dying?

I prefer Qobuz, after starting with Tidal. I hate to relate that I un-appreciated with the graphics associated with the Tidal starting screen for the most part, back then. Perhaps improved now, but Qobuz won it for me. The new Qobuz Connect functionality with the MSB Renderer is “the bomb”

    Unknown speakers?

Would not be the first copy. My dad made a DIY Klipschorn set of speakers, and matching walnut cabinet to house the McIntosh pre + MC60s + turntable + vinyl storage, at the cabinet shop at McDill AFB in Tampa in the very early ‘60s. I was in Pre-K 4. That system formed my audio baseline.

    New MSB Firmware

New firmware for DACs, and a special update of the Renderer V2 dropped today. (Renderer will automatically update itself) Renderer now responds directly to Qobuz Connect. (Phone can connect Qobuz app directly to the Renderer/DAC) I know the Renderer and Qobuz Connect work fine, but I still...

Andrew Jones and a new brand

Janna has been doing videos with Darko for a few years now, frequently doing an ad segment at the beginning of his videos. She is now working her own channel, showing how audio stuff is made. I enjoyed her Devore video.

Seattle here. There are several brick and mortar audio stores in the Pugent Sound region. Some friends and I were recently at Gig Harbor Audio, a great shop. More in my neighborhood is Hawthorne Audio. Seattle HiFi is in Redmond. All have impressive new, and used offerings. There is a nice Vinyl...

    25 Most Underrated Vintage Speakers

I like the audio rack too, did you build it? Starting a DIY Flexy rack today myself. It will be a bit though, I’m a slow worker. I have almost obtained everything, and hope to start the wood work portion this weekend.

Andrew Jones and a new brand

I asked Lou about a speaker upgrade, and asked him what was going to be available to hear in September. Her was his response (audiocircle forum): “The Pacific Audio Fest will next happen in 2027. Sorry about that. There will be an announcement soon. The Apollo are the BIG brother to the Muse...
