    TiGLON cables

Thank you. Which also would indicate that the improvement offered will be dependent on many variables. The longer I do this, the more I am convinced that there are very few definitive statements in this hobby that are always true.

Switched to Class D or get left behind?

Frankly, I think you’ve nailed it. I have a small system running on a pair of Fosi V3s that sounds better than it has a right to. I also have a Rowland model 10 class D amp with upgraded power supplies that, after having some undisclosed issues addressed, sounds better than any amp I’ve ever...

    Santana

“Mediterranean Sundance” with Paco de Lucia was amazing. That particular cut pretty much personifies guitar virtuosity for me.

What type of amps do you use? Tube? Solid State? Both? Hybrid?

I have two systems. One is SS, one is tube based. I like both.

Switched to Class D or get left behind?

But…but…it’s so fashionable these days.

What can do more than anything to improve your room & speakers? FIR filters maybe?

I think what I’ll do is raise the question about the process and advisability of such on the PS Audio forums. It will help to have information specifically related to the dacs I own. I appreciate the information. Thank you.

What can do more than anything to improve your room & speakers? FIR filters maybe?

FWIW, it appears that PS Audio has incorporated FIR filters in their PMG Signature dacs, so they obviously feel they’re of value. I don’t run a computer in either of my rigs, so I’m not sure how I’d go about implementing them.

    "The Objectivist Tribe"

Sounds interesting. The website is down for scheduled maintenance until June 8, but I’ll enjoy checking it out then.

Is Class A still the king of tone?

“Not rocket science.” Perhaps not to someone with your background and experience. I can’t bring that to bear, I’m afraid. 😉 Pardon my ignorance, but I’d like to have at least a fundamental understanding of this. So when listening to a piece of music on my system, say for example that I...

My retreat from a streamer to a basic preamp

It would be hard to argue that. In any case, we’re pursuing very different goals, which is fine and explains much. Some years ago, I gave up on trying to analyze my rig’s performance in any given area, including its ability to recreate the “raw, unmodified sound of the recording itself”. I...

Is Class A still the king of tone?

Bingo. As Ralph pointed out with the Recklinghausen quote, “If it measures bad and sounds good, you’ve measured the wrong things.” It seems to me that we can measure things down to a nicety in a lab environment, but if there’s a way to positively correlate those measurements with what I...

My retreat from a streamer to a basic preamp

Wow. Your experience is so alien to my own that it’s a little hard to get my mind around it. If my Von Gaylord preamp added any grain whatsoever I wouldn’t have it in the system. The VG is a two-chassis setup utilizing a 6SN7 family tube for each channel backed up by a 25 lb. power supply. I’m...

My retreat from a streamer to a basic preamp

You had to know that you’d pay a sonic penalty by taking the SF preamp out of the system. All I can figure is that you felt the ability to use the Eversolo room correction capability was of enough benefit to override that loss.

My retreat from a streamer to a basic preamp

I confess to being puzzled as to why you would use a streamer with variable output in the preamp function when you have a piece like the SF Line 1 SE. i ran the output of my Directstream directly into the amp for a while, but it was a matter of necessity. When I was able to put the preamp back...

To Switch or Not to Switch?

For which I do apologize, by the way. Had I realized that a thread so close to my intent already existed, I’d simply have added to it. Mea Culpa.
