Whispers of a Magico M9 Coming Soon?

Can't wait until the trickle down of the advances in the M9 are seen in some new Magicos that cost a wee-bit less than $750,000

A few things.

1.) I assume this is the Q7 replacement as the new flagship? So, only Q series left is the Q sub and Q1?

2.) Is this a 4 tower speaker? With separate bass towers?

3.) Are the bass drivers powered or passive?

Certainly a WAMM or XVX Competitor but, with a hell of a lot more advanced technology. Carbon fiber, pistonic drivers (not paper)

Makes the YG Sonja XV look like quite a bargain at 265K ish ? a pair compared to the Magico and Wilson flagships.

Yes. New flagship.

Two towers.

3.) Are the bass drivers powered or passive?

The bottom 2 speakers are 15” powered subwoofers fully adjustable via DSP.

Me too, Calvin. If you look closely at the new design features of the the M9’s, you can see the future of the Magico line for the next couple years, as the new developments trickle down. Gone is the the traditional Rohacell foam, used as the core for the Carbon/Graphene sandwich, replaced with much stiffer aluminum honeycomb core to achieve more pistonic movement. Powered subwoofers that are fully tunable via DSP, which enable the speakers’ bass to be easily tuned to the room dimensions, and to achieve a 94 dB sensitivity, which reduces minimum power requirements and opens up the possibility of many more amplifiers.

I am a Magico fan, but $750K for a speaker is getting a bit over the top in my opinion, don't want to think what it will cost in Europe.

sounds like it's approaching the technology of my 8 year old twin tower Evolution Acoustics MM7's.

80 inches tall (82" + 84" tall), -2- 15" powered tune-able subs (-4- 15" powered tune-able subs), 1000 pounds (1500 pounds), easy to drive, amp friendly 94db, 4 ohm (97db, 7 ohm).

i think the Magico is sexier to look at by far than the Evolution's. but when the lights are dim.......

The M9’s are a work of art visually and employ state-of-the-art engineering in their design. Highly impressive in my opinion.

Hi Mike,

The MM7’s are tremendous loudspeakers but I have to give the engineering edge to the M9’s with its carbon nanotube graphene sandwich cones with aluminum honeycomb core and half inch thick carbon fiber monocoque cabinet modeled after the fuselage of a F-35 fighter jet. A stunning engineering achievement in every way. I rapped on the side of the M6’s and it was like hitting a solid piece of polished granite.

Best,
Ken

Seriously?

The M9’s appear to be state of the art in so many respects. Thankfully we don’t measure the performance of speakers by their height.

Carbon graphene cones with honeycomb aluminum core or a carbon fiber monocoque cabinet.

Can’t wait to see the external crossover and external PSU for the crossover in person. A picture of it is below.

The software for the M9’s bass drivers is all new and an advance on the Q-Sub software.

I’ve also attached a picture of the M9 from the side.

I didn’t realize they had moved to a carbon fiber aluminum honeycomb core sandwich on the cabinet too. A departure from the M6’s design. Alon leaves no stone unturned.

I can't see them selling too many pairs of these into their best market, Hong Kong. It's just too big for the apartments even uber-rich guys live in.

But the trickle down will be tremendous on new forthcoming Magico models at a fraction of the price - which will still be expensive, but not as expensive.

Magico "Halo" Speaker. Similar to that supercar from your car manufacture of choice. And priced like one:-)

Clearly a cost no object speaker to showcase what Magico is capable of.

Many comparisons will be made to the WAMM. Given the price. But, is the M9 a limited speaker, like the WAMM?

Additionally, of course one needs about 100k worth of amplification to drive these speaker.

The WAMM brought us the Relentless amp from Dan D' to pair with the WAMM MC.

Wonder if there is a Soulution Series 9 waiting in the wings to pair with the M9.
