Hello everyone, yesterday it occurred to me to try my Lumin X1 as a preamplifier, (I have the Accuphase E370) I honestly liked it a lot, the difference is not day and night, but I like to use the latest configuration, which is a bit annoying, is not having a remote control, a common and basic remote control, even if it has 2 buttons, to increase and decrease the volume I would be happy. My question to Peter, is there a chance that Lumin will make a remote control and sell it separately? Thank you very much. Regards.

I think the same..

A remote control to turn up and down volumen and also to rew, rev and pause will be really good.!!!

On the other hand i feel that if you are using you Lumin X1 as a Preamp it will be nice to have some Tone Controls on the Lumin app.

Let´s wait Peter responses.

Regards;

There are both technical and business factors associated with this request of remote. Answering one factor without the other would not be very useful.

Tone control is not possible on a Lumin, unless you use use Roon.

The remote is the iPhone or iPad. Super easy to run the Lumin players with either. Of course no tone controls but that’s ok.

The point was made in another thread that adjusting the volume via an iPad or iPhone was awkward. I think that's what this thread is about. I support this view. In order to realize the full potential from Leeds volume technology, a simple remote volume control is needed.

Fair point. Using the Apple devices may be a little awkward.

Perhaps Peter’s reference to “business factors” means there is a Lumin preamp in the works. It makes sense, given they already produce source components and an amplifier. This is all just speculation on my part, so take it at that.

Exactly. Sometimes I listen to music and receive a phone call, to attend to it quickly it is very uncomfortable to open the app and turn down the volume. A simple remote control with 3 buttons (+ volume, -volume and mute) we would be satisfied.

I totally understand the need for a hardware remote. Whether this will be offered is a business decision above my pay grade.

Ill throw my vote in for a remote as well. I never imagined one was needed with the way the app works... until I purchased the Electrocompaniet ECM1 digital player which is controlled by its own APP and a physical remote control. I use the APP to browse and create a playlist and then simply use the remote to jump forward and back in the queue... much faster and easier to use. Volume control would also go nicely with this.

Lumin surely receives many emails on this subject, we hope they will please us with the good news. ;)

Peter, what is it about Roon that allows tone control on Lumin?

What would a Lumin remote do? There is no volume to change. There is no channel to change. Other than increasing the cost and complexity, what would it accomplish?

Lumin products do not have DSP capability. Roon can perform DSP such as room correction then send the processed music to a Roon endpoint such as a Lumin or a DAC.

For people who do not use another preamp, and therefore rely on Lumin built-in digital volume (e.g. Leedh). Some of them may prefer using a traditional physical remote having volume buttons.

I can only say that we do realize this need.
