Lumin U2 Mini

In the first week of July 2022, there will be a firmware upgrade for U2 Mini to fix a USB low volume issue from some particular (not all) USB DAC.

If you’re using USB output from U2 Mini, there is a small chance that after doing the firmware upgrade, the DAC output volume will be increased even without changing the Lumin volume or volume control enable/disable setting.

This issue does not affect U1 / U1 Mini or any other Lumin model. They will not receive the same firmware upgrade.

If I am using the DAC from Anthem AVM 90 does it make sense to sell my Lumin T2 and buy the U2 Mini Thanks

Same Question here.
I use T2 with Farad Power Suply and ordered a Lampizator Amber 3 Dac.
Any thoughts that the U2 Mini could be the better Streaming Transport ?

Chris

U2 Mini comes with an internal SMPS, the same one as used in stock T2 or U1 Mini.

Brothers in Arms ;-) U1 Mini vs U2 Mini

Do any Lumin models have internal storage? I looked at every model but did not find any with storage. I have a very good DAC but need a new server with internal storage.

Lumin's model - a tightly integrated, turn-key NAS called L1, to be used in conjunction with a Lumin streamer/dac (not stand-alone) - is imo a more modular approach, preferable to internal storage. You can also connect an external usb drive direct to the U2 I believe.

None of the Lumin network players / transports have internal storage - you can stream from Tidal / Qobuz / Spotify / Roon / NAS or computer running MinimServer or L1. The Lumin L1 is a library only - it's not a streamer so you cannot connect a USB DAC to the L1.

L1 only supports its internal drive, it does NOT support addition of external USB HDD.

Good morning everyone

When I was considering the Lumin as a streamer a couple of years ago, there were complaints from users using android based tablets/phones/computers. Has this issued improved?

A long time ago we hired an experienced Android app developer and have rewritten the Android app since then. At this point I'd say the Android app is on par, if not better, than the iOS app. I no longer want to pick up my very old iPad Air (which has since become very slow) for Lumin app at work any more unless I have to - I just launch the Lumin app on my personal Android phone.

Lumin also offers the most flexibility for app choices - you can use other OpenHome apps like Linn Kazoo, Roon Remote app (if you use Roon), Tidal app (Tidal Connect), Spotify app (Spotify Connect), etc.

Since the beginning, when Lumin appeared on the market, I always use only android for navigating, config and updating without any problems. And the Android compatibility was the main reason I decided to buy Lumin, nor Auralic which these days was "dedicated" for Mac users (without Android app) .

Thanks Marcin.

Final hurdle: The Lumin OS itself.

I'm currently using a Bluesound Node with their OS. No issues, no crashes, easy to navigate.
So say its the best there is. Any ex-node users here care to comment on switching?

For a long time I use Node & few Yamaha MusicCast players, so don't be afraid - the stability and ergonomic of Lumin App is the same or even better ;-)

Mini 2 arrived yesterday!
Setup was a breeze. Hardest part was remembering my Tidal and Qobuz passwords.
No issues using my android tablet. Worked flawlessly.
Any way to change the background from white to dark?
