So far I have tried the 5U4C,Sylvania 5X4G, Svetlana 5C3S and EML 5U4G.

All vary and have currently got the EML running, like the warmth in these tubes.
What are you currently using as your rectifier tube.

I have the EML 274b coming. My fav is probably WE274b or WE422a. I remember that EML 5U4G. Excellent rectifier. Should get more respect.

The EML tubes are very fine rectifiers, I read about EML 274b and 5U4G, both have a similar signatures probably.

My Lampi is a level 5 and uses a 6X5. I have been playing with the Bendix 5852, Sylvania Brown Base 6X5gt and a Zenith 6X5G (small coke bottle shape). The Bendix is very focused, The "G" is very dimensional and the "gt" is in between. At this point, in my system, I am leaning towards the "G". However I have an RCA "G" on it's way. RCA's are generally known for their bold and warm presentation, with good bass. We shall see how it compares.

To me, although it has been quite some time since I have used/heard them, the difference in the characteristics of the 6X5 rectifier tubes is much more subtle and discreet than the larger tubes referenced in previous posts. I do recall really enjoying some Tung Sol and Sylvania 6X5s. RCA's were nice too, but again, to me...very subtle difference between them unlike with the 5U4G, 274B etc...

One of the biggest differences that I have noted is when a larger bottle tube is substituted for a smaller/regular bottle tube. Such as replacing the 6X5gt with a 6X5g (coke bottle). The ambiance field, depth etc is greatly enhanced with the bigger bottles. I first noticed this with my Audio Mirror amps upon changing the 6SN7's to 6F8g's. I have a personal theory that it is due to electrons reverberating in a larger space, creating a quasi echo/delay. This can be easily debated and what the heck, I have been full of it before. But it's my theory and I'm sticking to it. If you have a piece of gear that you can substitute a larger bottle tube for a smaller one, I urge you to try it.

About 2 years of normal use for a regular recti and about 20 years for the Kron KR5u4g with its MUCH higher vacuum seal.

Best recti for me. The order from top
tto bottom
we274b real nos
tak 274b
eml 5u4b mesh
psvane 274b replica
simple solid state recti plug in
after top two there is a serous deop
off.
Also woo audio sells tak tubes.
I bought a pair just today of 274b and 300 b taks

Anybody know the price difference between Woo Audio and Amtrans for the Takatsuki 274b? They seem to be the only two that carry it from what I see.

Thanks. I was seeing two different prices when I searched woo audio for the tak 274b. One was $965 plus shipping and one was $1045 with free shipping. The Amtrans site says 86500 yen which according to the transfer is around $840 but don't know if there are other fees or what shipping would be straight from Japan.

Hi Guys

I have a pair of BNIB KR 5U4G Hi-Vacuum Lampizator 6th Anniversary Special Edition tubes or sale. Asking $600 plus shipping.

The Hi-Vac process is said to result in a tube life 4 times longer than conventional recti's.

Thanks for looking.

Hi guys, I have purchased another 3 pairs of Lampizator 5U4Gs BNIB. I am selling them for $750/pair shipped anywhere in North America. PM me know if you're interested.
