Gold and Balanced. Very nice. 7 TUBES! 300b output?

Re: Lampizator Pacific arrives at Suncoast Audio

Nice one Mike! Any initial observations sound wise?

No initial thoughts yet, just letting it run in. But so far, I have tried it on the Avantgarde’s, Magico’s, VAC, Gryphon. I’ve also tried an assortment of USB cables, AES/EBU cables, direct Ethernet (Roon), etc.

Re: Lampizator Pacific arrives at Suncoast Audio

This Pacific DAC is quite revealing with different cables. The soundstage is huge and the detail just pops with tight punchy bass with the AQ Hurricane, but vocals have a touch more sibilance (just on this DAC, not on the MSB for example). Switch to the Shunyata Sigma power cables, and you get buttery smooth highs and a level of “fleshiness” with the vocals with a slightly tighter soundstage. I would truly have a near impossible time choosing between the two cables. I think a lot would also depend on the tubes, speakers, etc.

I’m really digging the Ethernet connection on the DAC and prefer it to the USB, but it’s close.

In terms of transparency to the recording how truthful does it sound.
In same terms does the sound of each song become its own.
Does the pacific have it’s own sound ? Or closer to pure transparency ?

The Pacific is much more transparent than the GG or Big 7. The jump from GG to Pacific is far greater than say Big 7 to GG. This is more revolution of sound for Lampi than mere evolution.

I’m not sure what you mean “does each song become its own”?

The Pacific has its own sound. Rick and I listened for two hours yesterday and Rick said the Pacific makes everything sound “prettier”. He prefers more “accurate”, I prefer more “prettier”. YMMV.

Re: Lampizator Pacific arrives at Suncoast Audio

Ty for the replies
owning each song is a way to measure transparency. For me each track has its own sound much less each album. Hearing the vast changes of each tracks is a hall mark of a transparent system. This starts at the source and goes from there.
analog I don’t know but digital I do and keeping things transparent allows for less color to be added. Given no system or chain does not have no adds the less is better.
I do agree the pacific is a pretty presentation , but for the right reasons lol.
When you can play this track
Andy mknee song top hat. It’s from maple shade it’s a very raw sound has an astounding amount of presence. Having presence is also part of transparency for me.
My audio terms are at times not what others use. Sorry for my confusing anyone.

Mike,
In your stable of DACs, which DAC belongs in the accurate camp (without sending clinical)?
Thanks!

Mike I have to say you are amazing. I can't wait to come to visit your place. You are getting or have just about all the goodies there are in this "hobby" of ours. Kudos to you for all the great stuff you are bringing on.

One of my favorites in life, another Mike, Michael Jordan, who once appeared on David Letterman and Letterman asked him, "so Mike, tell us the products you endorse; WAIT, it would probably be faster if you tell us the products you don't endorse".

Similarly, soon it will be a shorter list to just tell us what you don't have than what you do.

Once again, Kudos to offering such a wide variety.

Thanks. I agonize of which brands to carry. I think about it constantly. I go to shows and listen as much as possible. Read everything I can as well (for what that’s worth). I’m also not shy in dropping brands if I feel there is nonsense going on. I ultimately buy what I feel is the best and I like people to think about fundamental differences in sound. I also believe we are living in the most exciting times for digital. My focus on digital ties in well with my IT background.

Mike I think your vast list of top end devices is great. I feel we all hear diffiderent and looks add to choice too. After all not all of us buy by sound alone or even know what may be better like you do.
As an example tube rolling clearly there are tubes are prefere but not all do as I do. Glad you have so much I plan to Visit you to with a friend.
