Any GA pilots in our group?

I'm not a GA pilot but I have a good buddy that's a GA pilot, and I've gone flying with him a few times. He's even let me take control of the yoke for a spell while we were doing a "Bay Tour" here in the SF Bay Area. He recently bought a Beechcraft Bonanza this year, trading up from a Grumman Tiger.

When I first read the title of the post I thought of the father of one of my daughter's college roommates. He was a Delta pilot for his career and lived in Atlanta. So clearly a GA pilot. Larry

Started with an '04 new from Duluth, then traded for a 2007 G2 TN which I still fly.
Landed in 48 states and 6 CA provinces. It's been a fun journey.

Nice. Another repack fast approaching! You on a second engine? Have you upgraded the Avidyne to their latest or Garmin? Clean wing or TKS?

Ah, yes. GA service and safety. My buddy that now has the Beechcraft Bonanza has told me about the commitment, service, and work it takes to keep a GA plane up to specification and safe.

Keeping the plane safe is basically using a good, plane specific service center for the required 'annual' and writing checks. It's the pilot that determines safety rather than the plane.
I am 500hrs from an engine overhaul. I still fly behind the Avidyne due to its intuitiveness, not wanting to learn a new operating system and not caring about new Garmin features.
Old and young Cirrus planes have essentially the same utility.

Not a pilot other than on computer :).... but live in the aviation capital of the world :). A good friend audio buddy was a United Pilot. He retired about a year ago. He piloted 747s and the last year or two, 777s. He has his Cessna now that he flies for enjoyment now.

Yes.

were you the pilot in command? I took lessons in high school but didn't build enough time for my private ticket. I sat across this guy in 1st period junior high Dan Friedkin - Wikipedia

His dad had an enviable warbird collection at a nearby airport. He supplied corsairs for the baa baa Black sheep TV series in '70s and did a lot of the actual flying. Dan who I grew up with flies P-51s as one of the Horsemen demo team and is checked out to fly F-86 among others...talk about living a Walter Mitty fantasy.

she looks young, how old is she? I had two other classmates that were flying sailplanes at 14 and went on from there. there was a lot money in the town i grew up in, the Friedkins had a super long-range Falcon 20 built for maritime patrol converted to civilian use. During ski week they'd fly to Switzerland nonstop from Cali.

18. She started flying at 15. Very active in women in aviation. Wants to go to the airlines with a backup degree in Business. No idea where she got any of this from. [emoji6].
