Prayers for Ukraine

Guys, this is 100% legit - Polish Humanitarian Action - one of the biggest NGOs in Poland:

Polska Akcja Humanitarna

You can toggle EN / PL language and make a donation.

I just spend a night going back and forth from Polish/Ukrainian border bringing refugees to Warsaw with my car, where they can find shelter in people homes. Huge response from Polish people. People are literally offering free accommodation in their homes to people they don't know.

We see influx of 100.000 people per day now (so that is like 1mln per day if Poland was as big as US). Almost 100% woman and children, as man 18-60 of age cannot exit Ukraine. Many of those woman had left everything behind, had to walk last 20 miles on foot to the border carrying their childern and need basicly everything - from a tooth brush to clothes.

Anyway, your help - both in keeping pressure on your politicians and monetary via donations, would be much appreciated.

Slava ukraini!

Adam,

bravo for your efforts and those of your countrymen. know that the world is behind you all the way.

Mike

Adam, what a wonderful thing you are doing! We all wish you well and would like to help.

For people in the US who want to make donations, you can check out a US or International charity organization's "pedigree" with Google by looking for CharityNavigator.org , or another one guidestar.org . One international, US-based, organization who is on the ground in Poland now preparing to help displaced Ukrainian families is The International Rescue Committee (IRC). I just made a nice donation to them before seeing this.

Since some of you already reched me out directly, asking for advice on various NGOs.

I gave you the PAH details, not only ‘cos they have the website in English, but also are one of the biggest, most trusted and most efficient NGOs in Poland, with 30+ experience in helping people in distress, in all parts of the world.

Because of how big they are and how efficient they are, they can buy what is really needed and buy it directly from the manufacturers below wholesale prices (not to mention retail prices) – which means more stuff bought for each dollar donated.

And most importantly - they are doing it NOW.

After a week of this starting I am still in chock about how this could happen. I was convinced that after a generation of abundant trade in and out of Russia post the cold war - making Russia a relatively rich country - the old grudges would be gone. How naive!

An ukranian lady on tv today talked about a russian uncle who didnt even know a war was going on. Empire of evil indeed.

Anyway, I pitched in to the PHA tonight. Need to do more.

So far everyone I work with is OK, but our office building took a percussion hit when a building right next to them was hit. The pictures I saw showed all the windows blown out but unsure of the real damage. Several of my team mates homes have been damaged or destroyed. Some are still in Kharkov which took direct hits and some have fled to other areas or the border. We have been in touch via Skype.

To show the dedication of these people, they continue to login and work while their homes are being bombed. The people, not the government, of Ukraine are very special people. When they have come here on company visits, they are nothing like we would expect. They speak English because the company we sub contract with provides them the education. They bring us gifts and throw us parties and we show them America, New York, Philly, the NJ Beaches.

Prayers and encouragement and solidarity go out to all my friends and team mates in the Ukraine.

Adam (@elberoth) has been doing all of this good work while gently handling my new (to me) Dartzeel monos and preamp. Thanks Adam - we appreciate your efforts on behalf of the Ukrainians and I appreciate the gentle handling of the Dartzeels!!

a report from ukraine:

"As the Russian invasion of Ukraine enters its 11th day, a CNN team in Markhalivka, southwest of Kyiv, spoke to a victim of the conflict.

Igor, who is 54, said that his 12-year-old daughter -- who had disabilities and used a wheelchair -- was killed in a strike that hit their village.

Igor's wife, mother-in-law, two sons-in-law and his wife's friend also died. Two of his grandchildren survived the attack, along with his cat, Marsik."

Here is what our building in Kharkiv looks like now

It is disgusting. Unfortunately, the only way this ends is a bullet in Putin's head...

I'd even be happy with 10,000 fire ants crawling around in his underwear, just for starters of course
:)

I would support that :)....

It will end up being a Hitler in his bunker situation... I just hope we all do not have to endure years of World War III to get to that point.

A WWIII will not end well for all inhabits of this planet. When you deal with a unbalanced person in control, dangerous things can occur. History proves that.

As President Biden is visiting Poland today, I wanted to stress how important this visit is, not only for Poland and Ukraine, but shaping EU and NATO future. Moments like this happen once every 3-4 generations.

There is huge support flowing from the US to both Poland and Ukraine, both military and monetary, which is greatly appreciated here.

Meanwhile, Poland gave home to over 2mln refugees from the Ukraine so far, which is a huge number (just imagine US having to give shelter to 20m ppl within a month, as Poland's population is roughly 1/10 the size of US).

There is 300-400k refugees in Warsaw alone, which has a population of just 2m ppl. I don't think I will exagerate, if I tell you 1/3 of my friends already have an Ukrainian family at home now. Much more help will be needed, as many of those people just don't have the means to support a family that just expanded from say 4 to 6 people. At least not long term, as many of those people have been already living pay check to pay check. They may have big hearts, but they need compassionate people from all over the world to help them out pulling through this.

Hi Adam,

God bless your and the people of Poland’s efforts helping Ukrainian refugees. Poland is truly Ukraine’s best friend. My wife is currently in Lviv helping her Mom take care of her Dad, who is very ill with Parkinson’s. Nobody knows what tomorrow may bring but I just continue to pray for my family and all the people of Ukraine.

Ken

Yes. Our best wishes for the good people of Poland and Ukraine. This will change things for a long time, likely several generations at least.
