Esoteric announce new model N-01XD SE

But no mention I can find that existing owners of N-01XD can upgrade to SE model.

Upgrade kit SE is under discussion. I hope Esoteric will decide to release this kit. it would be a form of respect towards customers who have recently purchased the normal version.

Reading around web I understood SE will be more dynamic and clear sound. It would be interesting to try before buy. We will see. First delivery of SE in Europe will be in a month.

They had the new unit at Axpona paired with the F-02 in a good, not uber expensive system, and it was clear the new unit was contributing extensively to the quality of that room's sound.

I want to upgrade my D1X to SE but it can't be done locally here yet. I wonder if SE upgrades (of the Grandioso) can be done in the US?

Yes, that’s the plan. Right now the focus is getting the new SE’s out the door. Then I think they will formulate the upgrade program. But the plan is for it to be done in-house in the USA.

Esoteric sure is busy! SE models and tone arm boards for the T1 are keeping them hopping!

I guess the priority is to get the flurry of new SE units out to customers and then take care of the previous model SE upgrades. Seems to be happening that way here also.

@Mike

I'm looking to upgrade from the N-05XS to the N-01XD SE.

From what i can glean from the photos, the SE and Non-SE versions of the N-01XD look exactly identical even up to the model name. Is there any way externally identify the SE version from the Non-SE, other than serial number?

Thanks for replying Mike.

I'm from Asia so it won't be possible for me to purchase from you. Would however very much appreciate if you could provide some insight as to how does one identify the N-01XD SE purchased is not a N-01XD instead.

I'm just wondering why didn't Esoteric add "SE" to the model name printed on the faceplate to avoid confusion since the 2 models are exactly identical design wise.

From what I’ve seen, there isn’t a clear way to tell. Check with serial number as upgrades are possible to existing non SE units.
