Devialet 200...my impressions.

Great to hear Rufus. I guess you're not in North America where we apparently can't buy Melco....

Wow. That's great!!!!

I don't understand why a digital source makes such a difference, but I have heard it make a difference many times.

Dragging up the London Grammar 'Hey You' torture track again, I recently changed source from a Cubox to a Melco N1A. The track plays perfectly on my C-1.1s now!

Can someone share where to find this track? I can not get past "Hey Now" with google. And, If it is "Hey Now" which album/remix? I want to try this torture track.

Apologies - it is 'Hey Now'. I have the deluxe edition album, 16/44.1 I think there's a hi-rez version of the album out there too.

Think it is supposed to be Hey Now

I tried this track the other day several times. The original is more my style and recorded the best imo. Of the remixes on Tidal I like the Sasha and Arty remixes the best. Both are quit hot compared to the original. Arty seemed to have to most complex sound but was also the hottest...borderline unlistenable...ymmv

I have over 1000 DSD albums.

For the same money as the Devialet, I can build a system that will leave it in the dust. I stand by my reviews. Its a nice piece and I personally WOULD own one - but it is not the panacea some in the audio world make it out to be. For one, it's power ratings are a joke. I told Devialet this at RMAF and they know it cannot handle difficult loads and when it does start to lose power, you get a hissing out of one channel and then it cuts out (this occurred repeatedly measured at 93db @ 1 meter on my Raidho D3's).

I have reviewed the Devialet 170, 400 and 800 on multiple speakers.

The SAM technology is terrific and although subtle, it was an improvement.

As I also mentioned, the phonostage is excellent. I was surprised at how good it was.

But I stand by my review and as the person above asked - DSD from an external DAC via ADA on the Devialet is not ideal.

I have a the Devialet D400s. I am in the process of buying D3 V2s. Will the D400s drive the D3s to 100 db levels?

Thanks

100db peeks? 100db at 1m? 100db at listening position? How far back do you sit? How big is the room?

It's a very very good pairing.

Open concept 13.5'x25'+ I would like to be able to rock out with Pink Floyd and Tool when the mood hits me...
I would expect I will be 9-10 feet from the speakers when I've got them tuned in. Of course, 80% of my listening will be small ensemble jazz at lower volumes. I would consider horns but have never heard one without the horn sound....
