D’Agostino M400 monos are absolutely wonderful ...

I can relate to your findings while listening. The Progressions are similar. I believe it's the power supplies. I have never had an amp that plays at a realistic level and instruments remain in their space. I imagine it even better with the M400's.

The only thing better than power is more power ..... :)

Thank you so much Scott. I really appreciate it. Dan D'Agostino really knows what he's doing. I love these amps. I need to take my time with the preamp but I understand the synergy. I was there in the early days. I need to make sure it's the right one. Again.

Joe,

Congrats on your M400's and welcome to the club. I've got 5 of them in my multi-channel setup. I, too, have had lots of other amps, tube and SS, and these are by far the best of the best!

As for preamps, I had an ARC Ref6 at first and it sounded great, but when I dropped in the D'Ag pre.....game over. The synergy is mind boggling. But for me, I feel the best product in the momentum line is the phono stage. Words can't explain how good it is.

Enjoy your new amps in good health, as I'm sure you will. I've heard nothing better. The finesse and control they offer from top to bottom is just AWESOME!

Best,
Scott

I would love SF Il Cremonese or M3. I don't think I can make either of them happen. I love the recommendations though :)

ps These M400s can make ANY speaker sound awesome ;)

Because I think we can all agree that you have sorted your amplification out. As in, well and truly sorted

Joe - when you get a chance please listen to “Slomo” by Slowdive and tell me how it sounds on your D’Ags. I bet it is like liquid caffeine.

Absolutely. I'm up way too late every every night. I knew all amps (and preamps for that matter) sound different. Some better, some worse. But I never expected these M400s to be so profoundly better than anything that I've heard or had. My acceptable window of gear is pretty big but these have far exceeded my expectations. I am sorry to gush (again and again) but I'm very happy.

Will do, tonight.

It's funny, Jock was trying to talk me into the Diablo 300 because he loves it soooo much. He has nothing but high praise for that unit. He wanted me to save my money. What a sweetheart

Either way, I would have been a winner.

Have been re-watching The Wire. To borrow an expression: I feel.

And “I might be wrong” by Radiohead. Bet the guitar strum sounds like it is right in your face.

I must admit I am in love with my Diablo. For my budget, nothing comes close that i tried. By my end game are your amps plus the m6s.

I think you owe Jock a case of beer/bottle of fine wine BTW :)

One last post. A little plug for an artist from my small country. Mermaidens: “Satsuma”. Simple but effective.

Can’t resist. Another plug for my fellow countrymen. This one won an award for music video in the UK. “You’re so cool” Jonathan Bree.
