What saddle do you use?

State of Confusion
I know saddles are one of the hardest pieces to suggest. What works for one persons posterior may be anothers living hell. But I'm wondering what people here are using. I currently have a Fizik Arione that's a few years old and am starting to look for something new. Whether or not it's a new Arione I don't know. I'm kind of liking the Selle Italia SLR Flow:

I know Competitive Cyclist offers an unconditional lifetime guarantee so if it didn't work out I could return it for something else. Just wondering what you guys ride on.

Hi Doug,

Chances are if your pelvic bones are confortable with a Fisik Arione you won't be confortable with an SLR, different saddle width. Can't use any Fisik saddles myself, currently an SLR gel flow but have tested and will order an SLR Kit Carbonio Flow. In the case of saddles it is really YMMV.

Thanks Dan. That's kinda what I figured when I started this thread. Looks like another Arione for me.

Fizik Arione here. Came with my Giant TCR Advanced SL bike. At first I hated it, as my rear was totally used to the $19 saddle that came with my Trek. But then once I put the miles on, I got used to it and now like it a lot.

A serious cyclist I know (goes to France just to ride the same mountains as the TDF) swears by his Selle Italia SMP saddle. I'm interested in trying a Selle one day.

Ah forgot, CC used to have (not sure if they still do) a saddle rental program. You can try a small kit of saddles for a certain length of time and for a certain fee. I think it's one of the best things to do when buying a saddle. You need to try it for quiet a few miles in a number of different scenarios to see how well you like it. The rental program allows you to do just that.

I remember when they did that but they've discontinued it now. I asked a cust. service rep. and he said that you can basically do that with the guarantee. Unfortunately you can't order up three or four to try out unless you don't mind maxing out your cc. :)

Ah, that's too bad.

Luckily my LBS does something similar so should be able to try a few saddles before I buy. But like I said, I'm fond of my Arione right now.

Yeah, I've found that with saddles once you find something that works it's best just to stick with it. I guess I'll just change something else out!

There was a shop somewhat near me that had a saddle program too. I signed up on the waiting list to try out a few. I'm waiting to hear back from them. This was three years ago...:disbelief:

You know what? ...I took a chance and click on that thread; but to be 100% perfectly honest I was totally certain that it has some' to do with horses!

Washing machines with horse saddle on top? I dunno; seems like it's comin' from a bad sci-fi flick from the not too distant future. :dontgetcocky:

Bicycle's saddle!
