You may know him as Jaxwired (or Jax for short); but he's been Tom to me, for a long time.

He and I first became acquainted...when we both went from Dynaudio Contour S1.4s, to Special 25s; and hated them...lol.

Looking back at my emails...that's been just about 5 years or more! I won't tell you the number of emails we've exchanged in that time; because it would be downright embarrassing. But I guess it's a reflection, of the electronic age; that I've considered him a "friend"...even though we had never met.

That is...until this weekend. Tom and his boys, were vacationing about 30 minutes from where I live; and we had the chance to get together. Traffic made me late, and his boys were restless; so we only had the time for some wings, to gulped a few beers...and talk sh*t about all you guys :roflmao:

I don't go to audio shows, typically for 2 reasons: 1) I figure they're half-full, of a$$hole industry types...trying to push their agenda on me. And 2) the other half, are you weirdo audiophile types, lol. But Tom couldn't have been more cool.

The things we had in common, and the chemistry over them; was the same in person, as it has been online...lo these past 5 years.

He's one of the good guys, and he's given me hope...that you may not all be geeks after all ;) Maybe I'll even go to RMAF. At the very least, now I know Tom and I can hang out...and make fun of the rest of you.

Chris - that's great to hear you and Tom were able to get together. Mark (MDP) has met Tom and said he's a great guy.

You definitely should go to RMAF!! It's a blast. It's not only about the gear, but meeting lots of folks. It's my favorite show more for the socializing than the gear!

Well, the one thing we don't have in common is your talent for crafting a forum post. :)

I can only say that the feeling is entirely mutual my friend. I've enjoyed every day of our long audio friendship. And you've saved me a lot of money to boot by letting me live vicariously...

So glad it worked out that we could meet up. And i do hope you can make the audio shows because I think the audio shark family would enjoy meeting you as much as I did. "CD" sometimes stirs the pot around here, but his passion for the hobby is unquestionable and when you guys meet him, you will find him as genuinely a nice guy as I did.

Tom is a great guy! We got together a few times in Dallas for drinks and music, Tom's very knowledge about our hobby, and very passionate about music.

I'm glad you guys had a good time.

Well heck this is pretty cool an audiophile bro-mance right here:D. In all seriousness sharing a hobby be it golf, fishing, hunting, collecting cars or enjoying audio with friends or new friends makes the hobby so much more enjoyable. Do it before you get to freaking old to enjoy it.

Andddddd kiss each other.

Seriously though, this is what makes the whole thing worthwhile. I've had the pleasure of making a number of friends through various Hi-Fi channels. Glad you could hang out with one of yours. :)

Chris (CDL) - Thx for sharing. Like others, I have had nothing but good experiences when meeting other audio buddies from AS. Glad you and Tom had a good time.

Oh, you should come to RMAF!

Alas, I am the same in person as I am online too; but for me that's why people stay far, far away. :bonkers: :weird:
