Hi all...need opinions between those two cables...thanks a lot !

I have not heard the Kimber KS but did compare the Nordost Frey vs Frey2. 2 very different sounding cables. The original Frey is very fast but a bit lean. The Frey2 has a more liquid sound (almost all copper sounding but like the Freys are silver coated copper). Less conductors but the Frey2 is a heavier gauge wire resulting in a warmer/beefier sound.

That said when I had Dynaudio C1 Signatures I highly preferred the Frey2 (Tyr2 even better) but when I went with Raidho I prefer the original. It really depends on your entire system and taste. Any way of demoing either especially in your home?

George. I did demo frey 2 in my system that I have . Frey 2 xlr from cary slp05 to mc601 and I found the sound very bright. ...idk maybe need burn in more...?

Sonny I own the Tannoy and did much research as I could and the Kimber KS 3035 with 9035 jumpers was best to my gears and speakers. So Mike loved it and Mark Jones , Mark MDP as well :)

Thanks Paul. But I'm just looking for the xlr cables and I'll go with kimber ...

I sold Nordost for over 9 years of time. I sold a lot Valhalla as well. I owned the Valhalla loudspeakercable for 12 years. When it came out it was very special. But....it was not perfect. I am working in the world of sound&vision for over 16 years of time. I have done thousends of tests. I think and work in tools. A speaker, amp, source, conditioner, cable or speaker is a tool. I test because I want to know all the properties a tool owns. I have a sound in my head and I create it with properties. This is how I work and the endresults are better than the way other shops work. Because my focus is on creating a physical 3 dimensional stage. This had become my trademark. I use properties to create the best and most complete overal sound. I have done hundreds of tests with Nordost. Nordost is incomplete, this means it misses parts which need to be there for the absolute sound. So what is missing? With ful use of Nordost cables your stage is always less deep and wide compared to other brands like Kimber and Audioquest. The most important thing what is missing is what I call intimate sound or individual focus. One of my best friends had a concertroom with a Steinway wing for about 60 people. Here I learned how small in proportion a voice and instrument is. I was pulled to the voice of a woman cause of the direct intimate focus. When you listen to many Nordost combo's you hear the limitation of individual focus. In real instruments and voices are smaller, but also more direct. The other thing what is missing is involvement in the mid freq. The newer series have improved this part, but still it does
not have the involvement like Kimber does. So what I did was that I sold often Nordost loudspeakercables with Kimber interconnecys. I had a more complete sound and a better endresult. In blind tests clients always choose for the Nordost/Kimber combination instead of fully Nordost. I had many concersations about this with the Nordost people. They could get very irritated. But I noticed that they have limited knowledge about how music sounds in real and how direct and small an instrument and voice is in real. They said; it is your personal taste. I said ; in blind tets people choose for the combination with Kimber. i am not the one who make the decision. These days I sell: Audioquest, Kimber and Purist Audio. I use the powercables of Purist Audio, because they give me the properties I want and need. Audioquest is more complete and more precise than Kimber. The only advantage of Kimber is that is has a little more involvement in the mid freq. But they have to do more research and tests to catch up with Audioquest. Audio is all about properties. When you are not aware of the properties of a tool, you don't know what you are doing and what you will get. It is that simple and clear!

what about fully wallhalla2 or fully odin?
i mean walhalla is not theyr newest knowledge.
that said, feel free to use the stock cords!

Cables are very dependable of audio gear and speakers so don't take us for granted and do your own personal test in your room.

Is my personal opinion

I auditioned the Valhalla2 a few months ago. Maybe the overall sound is a little better, but it is still incomplete. The individual focus of instrumenst and voices is not intimate enough. Same thing about the black level what is not of a stunning level. In this price range you will find cables with a stunning blacklevel. Stage depth and width is also not of a reference level. In soundrealism it is also not what you would wish for.

Odin has more authority, better resolution, beter overwhole sound, but also has the limitation in stage depth and width compared to some other competitors. For these prices I can create a superior physical stage with superior blacks and even a better height presentation. I give you an idea about the differences compared to Audioquest.

With Kimber you never can go wrong, but......when you want stunning blacks, superb speed and timing, extreme sharp individual focus and a great height presentation of a recording Kimber will not be good enough. In the past I sold a lot Kimber, these days it is easier to create a higher endresult with many Audioquest cables. I am dissapointed in the fact that they didn't bring out that many new products. This is so important in the world of audio. When others do this, you need to catch up as fast as you can.

That's the fascinating thing about this hobby: how we all hear things differently. I like it best when my ears agree with my wallet, but that's not always the case.
