I recently met a Music Teacher who lives in Piscataway NJ. She's a wonderful woman who taught Conrad Herwig's son music in school. She became personal friends of the family.

...... Friday (November 14th) there was a benefit concert which we attended.

To say I was blown away would not even begin to describe it... I know enough about Jazz and the history of Jazz to be dangerous, all I can say is that there was one hell of a lot of toe-tappin going on!

And then, we're invited to dinner, I'm sitting at a table with these amazing artists, I'm of course hardly able to speak.
I was sitting directly across from Ruben Rodriguez and Craig Handy...and just when I think I'm in heaven, They won't even let me pay for dinner! These guys are fantastic artists, way cool and just plain great people. Thank you Deb!

So with all the talk about Dacs Flacs Macs and Monoblocks...I recommend forgetting all that stuff and listening live from time to time.

Good advise and a cool story! Nothing beats live.

Ray, thanks for sharing. Sounds like you had one of the better nights out you've had for a while.

Very cool, Ray, thanks for sharing. My wife and I saw Kenny Barron (piano) and Dave Holland (bass) a couple weeks ago. They were performing their new album, The Art of Conversation, which recently got great reviews in TAS and Stereophile. I highly recommend seeing this combo, they bring a duet to a whole new level. Also purchased the 96/24 download from HDTracks, in a word, outstanding!
