On the battery: “By utilising a battery/power supply arrangement on the W20SE, Aurender removed AC current from the sonic equation entirely. The company says employing two banks of LiFePO4 batteries to separately power the audio circuitry off-grid “provides a dramatically lower noise floor for a totally silent background…” and that “this technique completely isolates the audio components from ground noise and also reduces jitter and the distortion often incurred in the conversion of AC to DC.” A third bank of LiFePO4 batteries comprise an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) which shields the circuitry from power outages. A newly designed, low-noise, linear power supply is used for powering non-audio related sections of the W20SE circuit topology (CPU, SSDs, LED screens, etc.).”

If I am not mistaken my 7 or 8 years old W20 has the same battery power supply of the audio board, isn’t it?
The power supply of non audio board is different - SWPS with W20 and new linear power supply in W20 SE.

My W20SE sounds great to my ears, especially in critical listening mode. I have only compared it to my N10, which it replaced.

Can’t wait for a shoot out between the W20SE, N30 and Taiko Extreme. I’ll bring the popcorn!

Where’s that happening? I can’t do it because one will get major butt hurt, but someone else is welcome to do it!

Hi Mike,

Bring in several well known forum members and they can post their observations. All you need to do is run the demo.

Best,
Ken

It's unlikely that a purchaser would be unhappy with any of those three solutions.

I've got a W20SE on the way. I had an interest in the N30 but without a firm availability date I chose to take the bird in the hand. Not ruling out a future update to N30 if warranted. I'd be happy to host the review of those two in my room.
