Just curious if anyone can offer an opinion?

A friend has the Kondo Overture and absolutely loves it. He has similar speakers as me and the 30wpc seems more than enough. Also, the Kondo is dead quiet, something that’s very important to me. I also love the EL34 tubes.

Since I have and do love my GAT2, I’m wondering if the ART27A can rise to the occasion paired with my preamp. It’s approximately 36wpc and looks like it could compete very well. The ART27A uses KT88 in triode mode, I think.

Not sure what that pairing gets you. Too much power and noise for one speaker and not enough power for the other.

I really need to try one to find out. Kondo on Avantgarde is dead quiet I’m told. I’m hoping CJ combo could be too.

Was just a thought. Both options are not cheap.

It seems to me that the sticking point is the GAT2 which is a high gain preamp much like the AI Modulus 3 and requires an amp with an input sensitivity north of 1.5 volts to match which the CJ amps and a few others do. Most of the amps that match that criteria have too much power though for the AG's. It is all a tricky situation that I thought the Wooden combo resolved.

The Wooden combo is perfect for Avantgarde, absolutely.

Sometimes a little variety is nice and I’ll be honest, even if there was one perfect system, could I sit still with it? I don’t think so. It’s something that I need to get over.

Now that I have a little extra time on my hands, it’s time for me to break out the Wooden combo on my Avantgarde.

I do think you are right about the gain. I’ve been reassured, even by Jeff F. of CJ that gain of the GAT2/ART27A combo should be fine.

I wonder how people heard any of those amp with speakers you have Joe. A matter of fact even heard on any system.

Beside the sound I wonder if you want one piece does it all or separates ?

I do own the Overture for years now and I have no problem with pair them with any of my speakers so far and love the sound.

I heard the Aries is amazing too but I won’t go with 845 again after owning the NAF. Hope I can hear them one day though.

Still happy with your Linton's? I had mine a little over two weeks and so far very impressed though they only have about 100 hours on them.

Jack. The Linton is amazing. I just pair them with Kondo Overture and sounds amazing they have this superb wide sound stage and the bass is jaw dropping. What do you pair them with ?

The Lintons are absolutely giant killers. Amazing value for the money.

ps. I would love an integrated, especially one as awesome as the Kondo.

I just put them into the Family Room system in place of the Nola KO's so they are powered for now with the Audia Flight FL Three S integrated which is slightly on the warmer side of neutral itself. I am going to give them a couple more weeks as they are and then try the Kinki EX-M1 integrated which is in my Office system. That will probably be a good match too as the Kinki was really good with the Verity's when I tried it for a while in the Main system.

The input impedance of the ART 150 and 300 are 1 mV. The main reason for playing with the input sensitivity as cj explained to me was noise.

Thank you Myles, have you received your demo unit?

Not yet as the latest Goldmund amplifier and new pre- amplifier came in house for review. Eventually but not sure exactly when given what’s going on in the world today.

I love Goldmund too!

Thank you!

Hi Paul, I also own the Overture and am very happy with sound, especially after I changed the Tubes to Raytheon (12bH7), Telefunken (6072) and Tung-Sol (EL34). Sound became even more magic and somewhat more substantial after that. I only have one littel "problem" with the Overture - for me the mechanical transformer noise is a somewhat disturbing when listening at very low volume and sitting near the amp. Do you also observe some "buzz noise" coming directly from the main transformer? Thanks in advance for reply. best, Robert
