The Classic Sixty-Two and the Classic One-Twenty

The Classics Revisited

The Conrad-Johnson design team is particularly excited with the introduction of two new Classic amplifiers, the Classic Sixty-Two (CL62) and Classic One-Twenty (CL120).

The CL62 uses a pair of EL34 output tubes per channel to produce 60 Watts/channel. The CL120 uses two pair of EL34s for 125 Watts/channel. Each is also available in upgraded “SE” versions featuring KT120 output tubes.

Holy cow! Up to $10K for the SE version of the Classic One-Twenty (CL120).

I had CJ before. I began with a PV14ls2 into a MV60. I ended up getting another MV60 and sent them to CJ and converted to mono, eventually upgraded to a CT-6 preamp, and kept that set up for a good while.

I actually went from Krell to CJ, two different presentations to say the least. The PR&T of the CJ was like it gave the music soul, I was seduced.

I haven't heard the "Classic" labeled gear but I wonder if those models have the vintage CJ golden glow sound. My personal taste goes with the more modern CJ sound, still CJ signature but less "glow". I wish I had room for a small CJ set up.

Isn't CJ still independently owned or did they get swept up by some holding company and I missed it?

Detailed information is now available on the web site. As I have just signed up for this forum, I am not yet allowed to post links, but you can find the information in the current products section of the site.

Conrad-Johnson Design is still wholly owned by Bill Conrad and myself (Lew Johnson).
