Re: Red Bull Racing breaks 35 year old record for consecutive F1 Grand Prix wins
Senna and Prost were so dominate in '88 with MP4/4, they would have won 100% of the season's races if not for the shlimazel that retired Senna at Monza. I remember watching that very race on live TV...IMO its not that same comparing records from different eras. they only had 16 rounds back then, today its 23.yu7ai

Re: Red Bull Racing breaks 35 year old record for consecutive F1 Grand Prix wins
I always thought the Red Bull paint job was boring - until I went to an F1 race and saw it in person. The TV cameras do not show the pearlescent paint job well and it really looks fantastic in person.

Re: Red Bull Racing breaks 35 year old record for consecutive F1 Grand Prix wins
I had never been a racing fan until a couple of years ago when I happened upon an F1 broadcast.... and I was hooked. Superb TV coverage, and the skill level, technical aspects, and decision making, not to mention the different venues, really make it interesting. Red Bull and Max are performing on a different level from the rest of the field.

Agree with both PumaCat and GSOPhile. I too got interested via the Netflix series several years ago and started to get bored when Lewis won nearly all of the races and then Lewis and max fought for the title and it was truly awesome. Now, we're back into domination mode and the very front of the pack is, well, boring. The rest of the field though and the technical stuff and soap opera stuff is all quite interesting once one gets some context. Without that context though, I can see where the races alone would not attract viewers. We're Checo fans, so Max's domination (and Checo's struggles) are frustrating.

Re: Red Bull Racing breaks 35 year old record for consecutive F1 Grand Prix wins
I’ve been watching F1 for over 30 years. During that time, the series has had ups and downs but always interesting and mostly fun.
Most fans disliked the period of the tires with treads which were designed to slow down the cars. Also, the retirement of the V10s and subsequently V8 replaced by the early hybrids was a terrible period for F1.
While the new cars are heavier, larger and don’t sound terribly exciting, they are faster than ever. Nothing will bring back the sound of the V10s or V8s driving by at 18K RPMs (ridiculously loud but exciting).
As for RB and Max dominant performance, it is very common that when a manufacturer gets the car right and has a super talented driver, the other teams will have to play catch up for multiple years. Benetton, Williams and McLaren had multi years of dominance in the 90s. Then Ferrari with Schumacher followed by RB with Vettel and until 2 years ago, it was Mercedes with Lewis.
In 2026, the formula changes again with new engine specs and aerodynamics. So more to come!_______________

Re: Red Bull Racing breaks 35 year old record for consecutive F1 Grand Prix wins
Very accurate assessment, Mike. I concur. While F1 is the "cutting edge" of development, I've seen better actual racing in other series. Regarding automobile racing, I remember watching Martin Brundle driving the Silk Cut XJR Jags at Sears Point in the IMSA series back in the day. He went into Turn 1 at Sears Point at over 170mph and...the brake lights never came on. 😲
Never seen anything like it before or since at that track...

Re: Red Bull Racing breaks 35 year old record for consecutive F1 Grand Prix wins
The radio matters not , best way to fix the sport and end current manipulation is to remove the ETC ( electronic. Throttle ) once the sport went to spec engines and Spec ECU’s they eliminated much of the driver input vs Team input.
BTW , the top drivers will always get to the front regardless, but that pesky manipulation for the show is something else ..
