System and Room Pictures

Mike,

Are those Stillpoint Aperture Acoustical panels on the wall behind the speakers?

The ones in the center are Apertures. Both are flagged by Vicoustics absorption panels.

Mike, I’ve heard about the Aperture panels, but not had them in my room.

Could you describe what they do, and how their effect differs from the Vicoustic panels?

Thx Mike!

The room is 15’ X 20’ X 10’ 6”. Not ideal as many acousticians would suggest - but the dimensions have worked well. On the Bolt chart, the dimensions place this room in the sweet spot.

Nice Mike. The room looks like a very nice size to me.

They are supposed to provide both diffusion and absorption. In my experience, when placed on the front walls (center behind the speakers) as well as on the rear wall in a similar installation configuration they do a nice job with focus and image. I have included Stillpoints link below for additional info.

OMG! As the youngsters would say.

I was very happy with my prior system. But, Mike spoke with my wife about MBL (which she loved during a visit to his the store) and, five months later, new speakers, amps and pre.

Geez, I’m supposed to be retired. May end up having to go back to work!

Thanks Gary! I can say that I’m humbled and, certainly, enjoying music with a wonderful system.

Well, I’ve made a few more changes:

- Added two REL Carbon Special Subwoofers
- Replaced the wonderful Lumin X1 with the exceptional Esoteric N01-XD

I’m extremely happy with the changes. The already fine sounding system is providing me with a higher level of musical enjoyment.

I had a chance to visit Mike (RITMO) on Friday afternoon. We listened primarily to digital with his new Esoteric N-01XD. Mike has also added two REL subwoofers. The addition of these two subs and new source has really taken his system to a whole new level. He’s got the subs dialed in beautifully and it honestly sounds like a 101 Xtreme “lite” system. Just a big big step up. Well done Mike [emoji106]

Thanks guys!

I’m extremely pleased with the system. While my system has been wonderful, I agree with Mike, the addition of the Esoteric N01XD and the REL Carbon Special subs have been transformational.
