I've been hearing all the buzz and positive feedback on the Roon interface, and like many, I have a gigantic collection of digital music that I have no prayer of navigating without help...

Last night I finally broke down and got a Roon account and am pumped to get up and going today. The wife stole my attention to watch TV with her before I could set it up, but I'm itching to get home and start setting it up.

I use the AURALIC Aries which is Roonready. Love it. I also have the lifetime membership

Cool to hear. I'm intending to use it in conjunction with HQ Player NAA in my living room system. Are you using it on an NAA server or all locally?

I do, with HQP Player, currently streaming Tidal Hi-Fi at DSD 128 on my NAA... The integration with HQP Player & Tidal is very slick.

for those who is curious to try, pls pm me, I can provide you with a 60 day trial code, no obligation to buy, no credit card required. I can also hook you up with an HQP reseller that charges cheaper than the price at Signalyst site.

I am setup and using Roon now. It's pretty cool off the bat and offers a neat insight to listening. First impressions are very positive and I've got it feeding HQPlayer NAA serving everything as DSD128 to my Golden Gate.

My biggest early gripe is that Roon Remote doesn't seem to be compatible with any of my android devices, so I'm just remote desktoping into my server for the experience... I'm sure that will be worked out soon though.

It may be time to add tidal to complete the experience.

SteVen,

I am using one of Blizzard's now discontinued Superstreamers in a secondary system as an NAA and am experimenting with our own LampizatOr DSD Komputer as a Roon endpoint in my main rig.

I haven't spent as much time with it as I'd like to yet, but Roon is sliiick.

Fred and ROON experts,
I like the ROON interface, it looks cool, but can't get it to work with Windows Server 2012 and my i7 4770k because of some bad "gle" graphics problem which is caused by ROON. I've followed the formula for using jPlay, Windows 10, etc but have had no luck using jPlay at all. At one time I had it configured to work with my PC and iPad. The PC finds all the digital outputs and works fine but the iPad which used to find them suddenly cannot.

As a result I'm not in any hurry to send ROON any $$$ and without ROON working I don't want to invest in HQPlayer either. I'm looking for a suitable NAA for my system. But without HQPlayer working no immediate need.

So far ROON, Windows 10, and Fidelizer can't compete sonically with jRiver 20, jPlay, Fidelizer, AudiophileOptimiser, and Windows Server 2012. Not even close.

If anyone has solutions I'd be glad to try. Not much help from ROON forums.

Thanks,
SteVen

I'll have an update for you soon so you can get quad native DSD out of the Amanero from the Superstream. :) Should be a huge improvement in sound as long as your computer can handle the quad DSD upsampling.

SteVen,

I'm using Roon in conjunction with HQPlayer for upsampling to DSD which is where the SQ uptick comes in. I wouldn't expect Roon by itself to be able to hang with the computer audiophile software you speak of.

Mivera,

I am pumped for that addition! I've got some pretty good sound coming out of the Superstream as is. I added a linear power supply tonight with custom cabling from Triode Wire Labs and I can tell things will continue to burn in well. Please keep me posted on that update!

Awesome! So I was experimenting with the new version today with my Amanero. There's been a patch for the Amanero and Linux for native DSD, but it's still isn't working properly with HQplayer on Linux. I guess Jussi from HQplayer is working together with the Amanero guy now on a new firmware update for the Amanero. Once this is flashed onto the Amanero, it will work. I'll keep you posted when they have it ready.
