There was tremendous interest in the new Wyred 4 Sound statement nextGEN amplifier at the RMAF in Denver this past weekend. The new amplifier is using a brand new proprietary Class D that EJ Sarmento has designed from the ground up. Five years in development (counting an earlier prototype that won Best of Show two years ago).

I heard many people saying it was one of the best sounding amplifiers at the show! Wyred will be trying to get it into full production as soon as possible.

Steven Stone from The Absolute Sound is hoping to get a review unit as soon as possible :)....

EJ told me that he is hoping to add a matching pre-amplifier soon. The unit will be an updated STP-SE designed to be added to the statement nextGEN series. The real cool kicker is that it is planned to be modular in design so that you can add or update functions as needed. Need a phono stage, no problem, add it, want the latest DAC, add the module. Need more outputs, add a module....

This is what EJ described to me. Sounds incredibly exciting!

I hear this often as well and have no idea how one would "hear" an amp (or any component/wires/etc) at a show. Right through the room/speakers/cables/source/conditioning/etc,etc in system.
Remarkable parsing ability ;)

cheers,

AJ

For those at the show (except W4S fans), how was the sound in this room ?

I have heard this speaker with a variety of amps, from high priced Triode Corp to $1699 Schiit Ragnarok to Q-styple Class-D wireless. Though the Triode Corp amps does have an incredible synergy, the others sounded very good as well.

Hey Phil, thanks for posting the photos. We were excited with the turn out and enthusiasm shown by those who visited our room.

Yes we heard from many people that our room was one of the best sounding. We agree, but of course we always take this with a grain of salt :).

I personally loved the way Steven Stone was really getting into the music when listening. It was nice to see both visitors and reviewers enjoying our system with the Acoustic Zen speakers!

Any amplifier specs that are able to be shared yet? The price mentioned in a different thread seems very reasonable.

Answering my own question with a little bit if internet searching...

From DARKO ( http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2017/10/mountains-of-sound-rmaf-2017-preview/ )

"Wyred 4 Sound

For manufacturers, RMAF provides a convenient platform for product launches where the bonuses of ‘being there’ are two fold: 1) a chance to be first to see/hear what’s new; and 2) to plug engineers, like Wyred 4 Sound’s EJ Sarmento, with technical questions.

When it comes to the Young Guns of Hifi, they don’t come younger than Sarmento. Still in his early 30s, the man has many years of ICEPower implementations and an in-house designed Class D module under his belt. Said module will debut in Wyred 4 Sound’s forthcoming nextGen statement amplifier: 250wpc, bridgeable into 750wpc, that features “a super-sized toroidal transformer with substantial energy reserves all wrapped in a custom designed aluminum case fabricated in-house.” US$3625."

The retail price on the new statement nextGEN is $3625; we agree that it is very reasonable.

The amplifier is rated at 250 wpc and is bridgeable to 750 watts. The remaining specs have not been finalized, however I can say that the initial distortion figures are lower than we have ever previous measured on an amplifier!

Oh, one other thing that is planned. EJ is designing a gain switch for the amplifier to allow maximum flexibility. Yes, he is redesigning the board again :).... but since we build the boards here in house, redesigning a board is not a major set back in time frame.
