From the very first note... incredibly holographic sound. And now break-in begins!

Thanks Joe, are you able to rotate the image for me? I don't know why it ended up on its side.
 
I have owned... ALOT! Currently I have the anniversary 40.2, these and Confidence 30.
 
I would be very interested in your personal take on the differences between these fine group of speakers. What kind of amplification are you using?

I have to be careful with what I say here to not offend anyone. I also have to spend far more time with the Wilson's and the Dyanudio's, including until after proper break-in and ideal placement is found in my room for each one. What I can say is that the Wilson's are worlds apart from the Harbeth's. The Harbeth's are incredibly colored/distorted in comparison. The worst recordings sound fine on them, quality ones sound better... up until you get to a properly recorded voice or real instrument, then you notice their shortcoming. The wilson's are incredibly transparent, quick and nuanced... if you want to hear how a real voice or real instrument sounds, or better yet, how and even where they were recorded... the Wilson's will show you.

I had Discovery I and it had great detail and bass with such small footprint. Discovery II should be amazing.

Bass was certainly a bit lean at first, after about 40 hours it has developed some impressive weight and punch.
 
Congrats on the new speakers!

I use the ACT One Evolution P1 driven by Devialet and it's simply amazingly good.

The SAM profiles for the WB increase the amount of bass significantly, too much for the level of sound treatment in my room in fact.

This is not the first WB/Devialet pairing I have seen or heard of. I owned the 200 and then the 400 years ago and although very detailed and precise I found the amplifiers to be quite dry, artificial and at times harsh. I don't know how much they have improved with the latest variants but from my experience pairing the 400 with WB would result in a little too much edge. I could be wrong though... cant try every pairing out there.
 
It may also be a burn-in problem.

My vector and D were butter smooth after years, but then I found the sound harsh and edgy when I got my ACT One Evo P1.

Very good on jazz and classic but borderline unbearable on rock.

A few hundred hours later it’s back to smoothness while preserving detail and dynamics. Pretty incredible sound really.

@dznutz How are the Discoveries working out? I have had a pair of Vectors for 8 years, and I'm thinking of moving up to One Evos, but also thinking of trying something different.

Well, that's a decision that only you can make. I am always trying new gear, and new speakers come and go. I suppose it all depends on your preferences and accompanying gear, I have found the Discoveries to be sensitive to electronics, particularly in their midrange and the speakers certainly have a top end warmth. At these price points there are no bad speakers, just preferences.

I have heard the Evo's and they are unique as they have a noticeably fuller and rounder bottom end. The D2's are faster and more articulate there.
 
Thanks for you input, dznutz. Your experience with the Evo's matches that of others, and I'm looking for a fuller bottom end. Ideally, I'd get a pair of US made speakers, so I don't have to pay the additional costs involved in importing speakers. Auditioning is near impossible these days, and not very practical in the best of times, as I don't live within driving range of any dealers. Videos I've seen from shows and elsewhere don't help much as the music selection is far from anything I'd listen too, and usually doesn't tax the system.
