Re: alexia V
I owned the first version of the Alexia’s. Enjoyed them for 5 years. Sold them to a friend that’s enjoying them immensely with ARC power. Look forward to listening to the Alexia Vs.

No plans to change my Alexia's but if I did I would look hard at MBL for my needs. Main focus is HT.

Price has gone up from 57k up to 67k - 79k. When will this constant price increase stop?

Re: alexia V
I wish we had the answer to that question.
Alexia 2 Pricing - $58K - $70K (With Acoustic Diodes - $61K - $73K which come on Alexia V)
Alexia V Pricing - $67.5K - $79K
The introduction of Alexia 2 was almost 6 years ago, well before the multiple supply chain raw material price increases that began in 2020 and to some degree have not fully subsided today. We see scheduled ongoing price increases from vendors, as many as 4 in 2022 for some. Freight increases alone, in and out, are brutal. While we would prefer to have the same price as Alexia 2, our desire to bring Alexia V along the technology path of Chronosonic XVX and Alexx V added to these ongoing vendor increases made that impossible.

Re: alexia V
While recognizing that inflation may result in no good choices, to me, a higher price on a superior replacement product is a lot more palatable than a price increase on an old model.

Re: alexia V
very well said!
from 61 to 67 is 10% only. lots of others went up more than this without any improvement.
that said in europe the price went up from 74 to 92k (standard colors), that is more than 20% increase for no other reason than greed and puts me out of interest while i was sure to get a pair. just not willing to play that game.
great review btw. wilson knows how to do the job more than just right.

I am very happy with my Alexia 2. When I am ready for the speaker upgrade, I think I will first consider the bigger model, Alexx V or even a pair of used Alexx.

Re: alexia V
Have had the new Alexia V's for a few weeks now:
Words to describe what I’m hearing so far:
The Alexia V delivers!
No more clutter…unpacks everything…nothing is hidden..ruthlessly exposes everything, including too close or bad miking in the source
Articulate comes to mind, as does clarity and lifelike decay
The soundscape is more clearly exposed in all three dimensions
Yet the background is quieter than it’s predecessor
Three dimensionality is magnified yet with proper proportionality
There’s a deep bass foundation that effortlessly delivers, when called for with propulsive force
More articulate and dynamic…listening to Senor Mouse with Chick Corea and Gary Burton the instruments are more like the real thing…as are massed voices and an accordion on cuts like “Talk to Me of Mendocino” on Kate and Anna McGarrigle’s “Tell My Sister”. Like many other instruments played through the V’s, it's more realistically rendered.
Authoritative - especially moving air - think a Joe Frazier body blow
Greater delineation, resolution and accuracy of sounds with a better and more pinpoint soundstage imaging - this midrange is wonderful as is the tweeter. Seamless and absolutely time coherent presentation throughout
This speaker seems to demand you play the system louder to let it blossom, yet you don’t feel you’re being overwhelmed or swamped in the listening. And proportionality is maintained throughout the sonic spectrum.
Everything is more realistic…even the audience in live recordings is captured in all manner of varied microphone placements
Net: refined yet mighty!Steve Schaffer

listened to the Alexia V's last friday, driven by a Progression S350 and a Linn Klimax streamer/DAC, it sounded fantastic, effortless music.

Re: alexia V
I'd love to own a pair of these speakers -- but priorities are priorities. For those who have the older V1's, splurge and install the V1 acoustic diode kit and with their age, in all likelihood, some, maybe not all of the rear resistors are open -- just replace with the spares that came with the speakers. It's like getting a new speaker again.
I regularly test the rear resistors every 6 - 8 months or so - just looking for opens & values in ohms if they aren't open.
I don't bother to check the woofer resistor in the base of the speaker -- I've been told if I found it was bad, I'd be the first person in Wilson history to have a bad resistor there (or words to that affect).

Re: alexia V
I replaced the resistors on one of my speakers. It appears to have made a change which is good I need to spend more time with it. My speaker changed it's position very slightly I'm not sure if that is the change I'm hearing. I'm changing after approx 2600 hours.

Re: alexia V
IIRC a few years ago Wilson has a demo out west and, in most situations, they change the resistors prior to a showing regardless. In this instance, they didn't and afterwards it was mentioned by some auditioners they noticed the speakers didn't perform as expected. Afterwards it was realized they did not change the resistors as they normally do and apparently the resistors in the demo'd speakers were indeed open.
From Wilson -- "Resistors are in the crossover circuit in series configuration (parallel pair). A zero-ohm impedance is a dead short so the resistors would act like a piece of wire. What they wouldn’t do is set the proper level that the 2.55ohm load does. New resistors should have greatly improved the sound." (P.S. - the 2.55-ohm reference is in reference to those used Alexia 1's. Mid & Tweeter resistor values for Alexia 2 are different values & speculate Alexia V's are different values from 2's).
Best to you Sir & great preventive maintenance,

Re: alexia V
How do you test if they are good?
Do you buy the Wilson resistors?
In my package of resistors I got 1 with the wrong number. I will speak to Wilson next week I’m guessing you don’t want mess around with the wrong one.

Re: alexia V
You can search the web for those type resistors & values -- I forgot where I ended up -- but they were identical and less $$'s. However, the skeptic in me decided to go with the bundle option on Wilson Accessory web page & bought what was necessary for my Alexia V1's. That turned out to be Tweeter resistor value of 9.0 ohms and Midrange value of 5.10 ohms.
If you take a VM across both leads, say of the tweeter (9.0 ohms) the VM should read 4.50 ohms (parallel value) and likewise half value for the mids. If the VM reads 4.50 ohms (for tweeter) & 2.55 ohms (for midrange, Parallel Value), they are good & can be reused -- a zero reading represents an open.
If you have the latest & greatest V's -- they came with:
The Tweeter option contains 2 resistors assembled together with a final value of 2.1 ohms.
The Upper Midrange option contains 2 resistors assembled together with a final value of 1.2 ohms.
The Lower Midrange option contains 2 resistors assembled together with a final value of 0.05 ohms.
The Bundle option contains resistors for the tweeter, upper midrange, and lower midrange listed above ($240.00).
Anything else is an error on someone's desk. I would not install a resistor that was of the incorrect value for that portion of the speaker.
Hope this helps Sir,
