Re: Vitus picture thread!
His comments on the Salon 2's were...uhhh...ouch. I must say, the Salon 2's with big tube amps (like ARC) are magnificent. They are totally transformed.
I can't look at the Rockport/Absolare pics anymore. Makes my heart race. God are they gorgeous together and I've said this before, and I'll say it again, Kerem Kucukaslan of Absolare is one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever met.
Valin's comments on the Gauder RC7 mk2's and the distributors enthusiasm are reasons they are very high on my list: "The $30k Gauder Akustik RC-7 multiway floorstander sounded Best of Show-worthy driven by fabulous Vitus electronics (sensational on Jaco and Lennie)."
Regarding the Q7 Mk2....it just goes to show how important electronics are in the equation of great sound. I bet with the Soulution gear they sounded great. The Aesthetix pairing at Axpona is still a head scratcher for me. I love Aesthetix gear - especially on Focal - but it wasn't a great match with Magico. I heard Soulution with the S3's and it was excellent. Horses for courses. My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

Re: Vitus picture thread!
I was impressed by the sound of the Gauder/Vitus combination at the Munich show, so last weekend I passed by my local Vitus importer and took a look at his offerings. As soon as I will have updated my Gauder Berlina RC7 to the Mk II version (unfortunately not before August...) I will have a listen to the SS-025 and the SS-101/102 at home. I'm already exited how they will compare to my Pass amps .

Re: Vitus picture thread!
Hi Mike, unfortunately I never heard Magico in my home with my electronics so any comparision will not be accurate. I loved the old V3 at a friend of mine with a spectral pre, mono amps and a SME 30 with a Lyra Titan. That was one of the most musical systems I ever heard. It's a pitty that Magico does not anymore demo with spectral.
I try to summarize the sound of the Gauder: the diamond tweeter (for me persoanlly a must and far superior to the ceramic tweeter) is very resolving but you will never hear it, the resolution is just there and even at very high levels they will never hurt. The tweeter was in fact the only downside of the old Magico range. The mids of the Berlina RC7 are very clean and transparent. They are imho particulary beautiful with female voices, they seem just real. Last weekend I heard some Callas 96/24 files and it was just magic... Imaging is very accurate and deep. The soundstage extends far behind the speaker line, music is not "thrown" at you as with some speakers but has more a concert hall imaging. There are, however, speakers with a wider soundstage. I would just call it realistic and not boombastic. The bass has very good physical impact, you can feel it and it is very fast; however, if you are looking for the last octave you will have to look elsewhere. Some might find the speaker maybe too relaxt not live-like enough, but for me to relax after a hard working day it's just perfect.
I have heard several newer Magico speakers (Q5, Q7, S5, S7) at different shows and at the Italian Importer (S5). The Magico speakers at the shows were mostly presented with Soulution or Constellation Audio electronics. At the importer I could hear the S5 (maybe the speaker which comes closest to the Gauder RC7 in terms of price) with spectral electronics and really liked what I heard (Pink Floyd from a reel tape). Excellent impact with life-like dynamics (maybe better than Gauder), good spacial presentation (I prefer the Gauder, being even more accurate) and resolving hights which; however, I could always locate. The Gauder instead just disappear...the Magico might be more neutral and the Gauder a bit on the sweet side of neutral (one might guess the opposite instead due to their ceramic and diamod chassis...).
...it all comes down to the personal taste ;-)Speaker: Gauder Akustik Berlina RC7 Diamond Black Edition DV

Re: Vitus picture thread!
at Audiophon,
the Gauder /Isophon are a very GREAT speaker. I love the sound from this brand.
I have the Sasha2 with the Pass XA100.8 (and the XP20 -> tried a ARC REF5se but is not for my....)
What for pre you use with the XA100.5?

Re: Vitus picture thread!
Hi,
for some time I used a ARC REF3 (at that time I still has my old Cassiano D) then I realized that the sound going directly from my DCS Puccini with XLR cables into the 100.5 is even more transparent without giving up anything on the midrange and sold the ARC.
I'm still happy with that combination but I will also try with sone Vitus electronics. We'll see.

Re: Vitus picture thread!
Hi,
direct from the Puccini to the Pass? uhmm...I think a pre is a very important gear in a hifi system....: I go test a cd player Vitus SS010 but I like the Ayon product.
Pass pre&li with the Ayon (I had a cd3s . too tried direct to the xa100.8 and was not bad...)
Puccini is a very steel blade with your sound! not to much analitic?
anyway te Berlina are amazing. I'm in Switzerland and Isophon are very expensive....much more from my new Sasha2......

Re: Vitus picture thread!
I guess the Sasha are too fantastic loudspeakers. Very musical and with very goog timing.
As I do not use my record player anymore but just listen to SACD or CD and via Streaming, I don't need a pre anymore. The sound is not analytical at all, but very relaxt with lots of physical bass impact. I just wanted to send my Berlina RC7 D to Germany for the update to the Mk II version, but due to a problem with the shipping I will postpone it to September.
After the updatd I will try the Vitus electronics as the Italian importer is in the same town as I am (Turin).
Did you ever compare the 100.8 with the 100.5?

Re: Vitus picture thread!
yes, before I had the XA100.5 and than I have purchase the .8.
the LF are more "strong" but with respect for the Mid and HF.
The Pass in class A is (for me) very good. price/performance like no other. the details, musical and the new .8 are more "relaxed" vs the .5.
You will change the tweeter from the Berlina with Diamond ? you dont can have "only" the tweeter and change it yourself?
A friend have to sold a Puccini (ad the clock too) -> around Euro. 9500.- (player and clock) -> what do you think?

Re: Vitus picture thread!
Thank's for your impression on the differences between the .8 and the .5.
My Berlina RC7 are with the diamond tweeter. At the High-End fair in Munich in May, Gauder presented the improved version of the Berlina with a new crossover. The sound improvement should be quite remarkable, but the update can only be done at the manufacturer.
The price for the Puccini seems very reasonable if sold with the clock which I really recommend.
If you happen to come to Turin, you are welcome to pass-by for a listing session.
RegardsSpeaker: Gauder Akustik Berlina RC7 Diamond Black Edition DV
Power-Amp: Grandinote Demone
Pre-Amp: Grandinote Domino
Digital: TAD D1000 MkII; Auralic Aries G1 with modified LPS; QNAP HS 251+ (via Wifi)
Cables: Wireworld Gold and Platinum Eclipse
Power: Dedicated power line and dedicated grounding; Furutech wall socket; Furman IT Ref 16 IE; HMS Energia SL/OV
Rack: Bassocontinuo Reference Line Accordeon

It looks like you changed or augmented the power connector for the main board. Can you post a picture of what you did?
