You hit the nail on the head AND to his own self admission, there are several inconsistencies with the spec sheets and even user manuals right now. That is one of the projects that Hans "has in the que". So, for the moment if something doesn't look quite right it's best just to ask. Hans does have the exact correct figures for everything but sometimes that information and really we are talking "sometimes", not a lot, are not up to date. But the promise and commitment is there to have everything synchronized "eventually".

Thanks Bob. Per amp? I wonder if the Intelligent Class A circuitry reduces heat on idle and lower volume levels?

My XA-100.5 pulled 300 watts per amp (heat was barely tolerable in my room) and my XA-100.8 pulled 450 watts per amp (heat was intolerable in my room).

    Ken
Ken, yes 250 watts per amp. That is why I said that I would bring over the 011's as with you already having gone through that situation you would REALLY want to be sure before you went down the class A route again.

The answer to the question does ICA reduce heat the answer is definitely yes. I can tell just by feeling the difference between the SM102's which are "on" in class A all the time vs. the SM011's running in ICA.

I think the SM102's could "heat up" your room, I do NOT think the SM011's would do so. I'm going by just feeling the amps when they have been on for hours. Also the SS103, only being one amp and feeling it here at the show I do not think it would "heat up the room".

Having said all of that regarding heat, all of the above mentioned are pretty special sounding amplifiers and regardless of their respective power ratings they are all VERY strong amplifiers and feel a LOT stronger than their published power ratings.

    Hi Bob,

I have a couple of questions on the Vitus amps:

    A) Are each of the Vitus SM-102 monoblocks bridged SS-102 stereo amps?

    B) If A is true, does this mean new SM-103 monoblocks will be coming out shortly due to the recent introduction of the SS-103 stereo amp?

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi Ken,

SM102's are pure 100 Watt Class A mono amps.

There WILL be SM103's coming out, but not immediately....sometime within a year, but hard to say exactly when. I was with Hans in Munich and he's not exactly sure when they will be coming out, other than they eventually will come out.

I just read that the Vitus room with the Gauder received the Best of Show reward from Julie Mullins of TAS (and it also made it into the top 5 of Jonathan Valin):

    Vitus Audio with Gauder Akustic

The Vitus SS-103 Signature Series Extreme Stereo power amp ($34k) made a smashing debut driving Gauder Akustic RC 7 Mk II loudspeakers (€28k). This setup’s very musical yet highly detailed presentation lifted me out of my jetlag. The amp’s 150W of pure Class A made for compelling listening on JV’s excellent Dream with Dean LP [Analogue Productions] played back on a Transrotor turntable; it was among the most beautiful I’d heard those cuts sound at the show. On Peter, Paul & Mary’s “All My Trials,” the system conveyed all the stripped-down emotional power and intimacy of this outstanding recording reissue from ORG. Rich harmonies were extremely well-blended and perfectly balanced. This Vitus-Gauder Akustik combination exemplified the smooth, effortless beauty and pleasure of high-end musical reproduction.

    BEST SOUND (COST NO OBJECT)
A tie between the rooms with Vitus SS-103 Signature Series Extreme Stereo power amp driving Gauder Akustic RC 7 Mk II loudspeakers and Soulution Series 7 electronics and new 511 driving the Magico M-Pro speakers.

    >>>>Yes, that is the Absolare Signature integrated in the pic....it's very nice, as crazy as it sounds, it sounds like the Absolare SET's, but with power. It has to do with the pre section of the integrated, which is VERY similar to the separate Absolare pre, which is a significant determining variable when listening to the Absolare SET's and the Absolare pre.

    >>>> The Studer/King Cello pre is quite something. I have a few 30ips tapes coming this week. The 15ips are so good, that I can't imagine what the 30ips tapes will sound like, although you can only get two songs on a reel

Having said that the Revox B77II with 7 1/2ips tapes especially with old rock tapes totally holds it's own vs the Studer A812....I was surprised.

If it was in the Vitus room you misunderstood, that was the SS103 same amp (different color) that Mike just received. It is 50W Class A, 150 Watt Class AB but has several different modes as well. Here is a precise and accurate description of the new SS 103
    http://absolutehiend.com/index.php/v...amplifier.html

The RI-100 is the 200 Watt Vitus integrated but it is Class A/B, not Class A. The only other Vitus integrated is the venerable SIA-025, which is 25 Watts Class A/150 Watts Class AB.

No I replied to absolare post above...it was in the Rockport room. I have heard big Vitus before pretty impressed but would like to compare them to good valves once to see how I like valves vs great class A

My apology, I thought you said Vitus.... that was actually the Absolare room with Rockport Altair speakers and yes it is 200 Watts into 4 ohms, 150 Watts into 8 ohms, but it is not running in Class A, it is a Class A/B SS output, although it sounds like Class A with the internal tube preamp.

Btw, my experience is that the Vitus Class A and good tube amps is just different. It has a lot to do with the speakers and their efficiency. If you listen to good tubes on a certain speaker they can be VERY holographic and deliver that 3D dimensionality and soundstage.

BUT if you then throw on the Vitus Class A or any good Class A with lots of power AND the speaker happens to respond to that power, there are a whole other set of attributes that jump out at you, as in massive wall of sound, dynamics, weight/authority etc, that you might not have heard with the tubes.

In my experience, it then ends up coming down to personal preference, as I 've had some people just swear by the tube sound and then others go gaga over the Class A. They are both pretty darn good.

Bonzo, if you are ever over on this side of the pond, give me a call and come in and we shall compare

Anything off the M Pro's will have a great pedigree. I love the look. Carbon fiber!!

Bob - how's your Keiser/Kondo setup? At CES it was pure heaven.

The Kaiser/Kagura set up at my place works even better than at Munich. The Munich room was very good, but the room was SO LARGE, that I was amazed that the Kaweros could handle it all. They did great, but it's just physics, the Classic Kawero is really designed for moderate size rooms, not GIANT rooms.

Having said that Myles has had my Kaguras for several months now, so I forget what they even sound like Will be fun getting them back soon. He also has my Kondo M1000II pre and silver SFz SUT and all my Kondo silver cables....I miss them all.

Next year I'm pretty sure that Kaiser will have a statement speaker ready for Munich that WILL play to a LARGE room....dual 18" field coil bass drivers

Sure The first pic is Rhapsody's Kondo/Kaiser demo system that we had at CES this year and is in our Manhattan showroom, although Myles Astor currently has our Kondo electronics, which he is reviewing.

The second pic is basically the same system that we had at Munich this year, (different Kaiser stands) although all of the Kondo electronics/Ginga TT were supplied by Kondo from Japan and Kaiser furnished the Kawero Classics and THREE truckloads of room wood/acoustic treatments for the giant room we had at Munich.

    Hi Guys,

I have an interest on the Vitus Audio. I do not have budget to go for the higher model and can managed on the Reference series. I am thinking to have the RI-100 to pair with my Vivid B1 speakers. I do not see much user with Vitus Audio and Vivid Audio combination, hence, I would like to have your thought on the combination?

I have learned the Vitus Audio should goes with certain speaker cable which I would like to have your recommendation on my intended combination. Thank You

Hi Rayray - welcome. I have not heard the Vitus/Vivid combination, so I can't really comment. I can tell you that the Vitus on my Magico's is outstanding. As for speaker cables, I have tried Kimber and Siltech. I love the Siltech/Vitus combination.

There is a 6 moons reviewer named Joel in France, he loves the Vitus on his Vivid (Giya G1). He currently owns the Luxman M800 bridges and the Ypsilon hybrids and loves them too. I have heard the Luxman and Ypsilon on his, and preferred the Luxman, while he marginally preferred the Ypsilon. But hearing that class A and having heard Vivids many times I think they will be a great match. Joel owned the Vivid B1 before so not sure if his Vitus feedback was based on B1 or G1.

    Hi Mike and Bonzo,

    Thanks for the input.

I was recommended by my friend to listen Devialet + Vivid combination which occasionally listened to it during some shows.
The more I read on Devialet design gave me a feeling it's a Class D amp, I may be wrong on it. However, I would prefer Class A amp but with limited budget, I have to manage with RI-100, a Class AB amp and hope the RI-100 and Vivid B1 will have warm, neutrality and transparency.

Coming back to speaker cable, Mike, which range of Kimber and Siltech cable you have on your system?
Have any Vitus owners try out Cardas and MIT speaker cable?

Devialet can compare only if you want a one-box, no frills thing to listen to rock etc. If you want more sonics and the complexity of orchestral with pre-power-source set up, suggest Vitus.
