I find this a very interesting topic. The vinyl resurgence has created a climate for unauthorised pressing production and bootleg recordings.
To think, old moth-balled presses in the backwaters of the world are being criminally resurrected to ride the rising popularity of this medium once again.
The 70's market for bootleg vinyl was quite large. I admit having been duped into a couple of vinyl purchases unbeknown that the vintage pressing was an unauthorised recording or bootleg. Some pressings are made well enough to pass an untrained eye, especially if it is a vintage bootleg.
Intentionally seeking out bootlegs is something that I would not advocate. Past or present, it has robbed the artist or the owner of their royalty entitlement.
When you think about the enjoyment you get out of listening to music that you like on a quality vinyl record pressing, it is relatively very affordable.

I say buy from a tested source, that's about all you can do.

I found I actually have three Wax Time cuts. The Ben Webster one is great but in the two other ones soundstaging is way off. Really weird thing.
Fremer has stated he thinks these are cut from CDs
